In my opinion, he is a progressive Marxist and appears to like the idea of people not knowing where they stand, perhaps for two reasons;
1) A frightened population is easier to control than a confident, well educated one.
2) He actually liked basically what Messers Blair and Brown did in relation to suppressing the masses and wishes to carry on the project (EUSSR/Common Purpose) but with a common enemy, viz capitalists.(Bankers being the "face" of capitalism)Tonk.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377446.post-18109500605816468312011-01-20T15:46:43.058+00:002011-01-20T15:46:43.058+00:00I commiserate with Mr Harding, as I myself lost a ...I commiserate with Mr Harding, as I myself lost a much loved cat many years ago, so I can empathise with him and his family. As for the heartless jobsworth who threatened Mr Harding in this manner, he has in my opinion proved that the spirit of Scrooge lives on in the 21st century. I wonder whether he'd have taken the same heartless and belligerent tone if he or his family, the lord mayor or any other high ranking council "officer" had lost a pet? Like hell he would!

Tonk said: "....I thought that Cast Iron Dave was going to put an end to this sort of nonsense but clearly, nothing has changed in fact, things are getting worse. He appears to be too much in thrall to his liberal democratic 'allies'.

On a totally different matter, you may have heard that the Cabinet Secretary, an unelected civil servant, I believe, has refused to allow the enquiry into the Iraq War to have access to the conversation between Tony Blair and George Bush, on the grounds that it might well harm Anglo-American relations if the contents were made public. So what? Apart from the fact that the 'special relationship' between Britain and the U.S is a myth anyway, I feel that the British people are entitled to know whether, as many people suspect, that we entered the war on the basis of a lie.Lord of Atlantisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377446.post-5935148571653085672011-01-20T11:33:28.323+00:002011-01-20T11:33:28.323+00:00This is just another example of those that are cou...This is just another example of those that are council employees, or as they used to be known, public servants, who prefer to be called officers and take leave rather than holiday, throwing their weight around. In keeping with the rest of government bodies, their policy is "Do as we say or we'll have you."

I assume the gentleman did not use copper nails and therefore, a couple of nails into a tree would do no harm at all. I wonder if the Hi-Viz clad enviroMENTAL officer (sic) will pursue the local woodpecker when he pecks a hole in the side of a tree, moves into it and craps;-)

I thought that Cast Iron Dave was going to put an end to this sort of nonsense but clearly, nothing has changed in fact, things are getting worse.
