Mortgage paid off this year with a small surplus on the endowment - so no claim for mis-selling tho9ugh doubtless my bonuses reflected amounts paid to others. Looks like the interest rate cuts will trash the income from my investments and so on.

Now the kids are grown up - but in the true spirit of neighbourliness I am seeking out some non-obese locals with young children with a view to letting me walk their kids to school. Will I need a CRB check?

What next? Paying bears to shit in the woods?

GrantAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377446.post-83107189907184583952008-11-14T23:32:00.000+00:002008-11-14T23:32:00.000+00:00Well, personally I think it's a fantastic idea. I...Well, personally I think it's a fantastic idea. I may be built more for comfort than for speed, but between circuit training, swimming and mountain biking, I exercise most days. So without changing my lifestyle Nanny will give me vouchers to spend on things I actually want to buy.

However there must be some catch. I'm a single, native, male, have an above average income and no children, so normally I'm entitled to f**k all in return for the disproportionate amount of tax I pay.

Still plenty of time to think up some exceptions before the scheme kicks in:
"Ah, you were already paying for a gym membership before. Sorry you're not eligible."
"Oh, you don't live in a marginal constituency. Sorry."
"This measure is designed to help families. You're single so you have to go forth and procreate."

I'm surprised you didn't mention pensions in point 5. Still Nanny has a solution to that one. Between increased longevity stuffing up the actuaries calculations, Gordon's final-salary-scheme-killing tax grab on funds, the credit crunch and recession, our pension pots will be worthless and we'll all either starve or freeze to death as soon as we retire.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377446.post-73781091217607245772008-11-14T18:31:00.000+00:002008-11-14T18:31:00.000+00:00This is all very sad, as the early champions of so...This is all very sad, as the early champions of socialism = Shaw, the Webbs, and other Fabians - were rightly concerned to improve public health by providing more public parks, playing fields, swimming baths and so on.

Ou present-day nannies are ignorant of history, as of most other things. But of course they are NEW Labour, and their world only commenced with the advent of Blairism in 1997.anticanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18135207107619114891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377446.post-6584252909098126922008-11-14T12:09:00.000+00:002008-11-14T12:09:00.000+00:00Ken:I shall have to come back later and post my th...Ken:

I shall have to come back later and post my thoughts as I can't type for laughing....This does not take the biscuit, it takes the barrel as well!!

Ken; You must be making this one up surely...Please tell me you are...Dam!! In the future Nanny not care about geriatric care and dementia as there will be none. Mind you, there will be nobody left over the age of thirty either.

Fiction ? Maybe! However, I'm sure if Nanny could come up with some wheeze that saw the obese, the ill and the un-PC either up against the wall or at minimum locked up in Ghettos then the law would go flying through Patliament.Kaptain_Vonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17625273381318758234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8377446.post-31248861631880352212008-11-14T11:22:00.000+00:002008-11-14T11:22:00.000+00:00In my opinion, this seems more like a bribe to get...In my opinion, this seems more like a bribe to get people to vote for nuLabour because, if Nanny were REALLY that concerned about the nations health, she would not have sold off school playing fields to property developers, closed and concreted over playgrounds, and allowed so many public swimming pools and leisure centres to be closed, and in many cases redeveloped. No doubt Nanny and her trolls will defend their actions by pointing out that there has been an increase in private sports centres but, especially bearing in mind we are facing one of the worst ever recessions, how many 'ordinary' people can afford to pay the fees charged by such facilities?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
