Nanny Johnson has announced that all remaining COVID restrictions will be removed by 24 February.
This is a necessary and welcome step forward, as we cannot live forever under restrictions that provide zero benefit but negatively impact the economy and people's mental health.
This announcement also has the added benefit of winding up all the right people!

ReplyDelete@dgurdasani1's twit (bottom right) was posted on 9 February. As per the twit, the previous day's moving weekly total for the UK was indeed ~1,800 (1,804 - Worldometers data). The figure for 9 February is 1,543: it has been declining daily and now stands at 928 as at today's date.
The lady is supposedly a senior lecturer in epidemiology. One might expect her to know how epidemics progress. With exquisite timing she picked the day before the current 'with covid' deaths dropped off its plateau where it had been since mid-January.

Having killed off so many of the most vulnerable in spring 2020 and winter 2021, covid appears to have run out of victims.
Excess mortality by age group 2020-2022 and cumulative mortality for 2015, 18 and 20-22 are numbers 1 & 2 on the Photostream.
