Nanny Drakeford's Curfew Idiocy

 

Yesterday Baroness Jones of the Green party suggested that a 6pm curfew for men might be a good means to stem the daily violent attacks/rapes and murders on the streets of Britain.

This was, I assume, a tongue in cheek means of highlighting the fact that the bog standard advice to women is don't go out after dark.

Hat tip to the Baroness, it was a rather clever way of highlighting the problems that women face wrt them being made to feel guilty (for having the temerity to want to walk safely on the streets after dark) for the crimes of thugs and bastards.

Unfortunately, aside from the media and their dog whistle knee jerk headlines, Welsh Nanny in the shape of Drakeford in his ill fitting suit took the Baroness at face value.

Thus it is reported today that Welsh Nanny would consider bringing in local curfews for men to make women feel safer on the streets at night.

Okay, here for Drakeford and other idiots is why this won't work:

- it is wrong to punish the majority for the actions of the minority.

- the thugs who attack people on the streets won't obey the curfew.

- the thugs will attack people before curfew.

- many men work night shifts.

- thugs and criminals will simply identify as women, and therefore will claim they are not bound by the curfew.

If you want to reduce the level of street violence/attacks on both men and women you need to do the following:

- increase the number of police patrols

- increase the length of prison terms for convictions

- thoroughly investigate complaints of attacks/attempted attacks

- increase stop and search for offensive weapons

- improve public lighting/CCTV etc 

Curfews are bollocks!

Nanny's Warm Weather Curfew

Heads up everyone, because of the current spell of warmish weather Nanny is telling people to stay inside out of the sun between 11:00 and 15:00.

Small factoid, in many other countries it is a good deal warmer than the UK for a lot longer than this current warm spell will last.

Why does Nanny feel that we are so weak and feeble that we can't survive a bit of warmth and sunshine?

Nanny's Heatwave Curfew

A couple of days of warmish weather and Nanny, as per usual, has gone into hyperventilation mode and issued a series of heatwave alerts and curfews.

We are instructed, if we live in the South East, East and Midlands, to keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm.

We are also advised to turn off non-essential lights and electrical equipment, to avoid generating excess heat, and wear a hat or light scarf if venturing outdoors.

Public Health England said people should keep curtains closed, move to a cooler room to sleep, and should eat salad, drink plenty of water and avoid extreme physical exertion.

Schools have been advised to monitor overweight children and encourage youngsters to play in the shade. They have also been asked to avoid leaving computers and printers on standby mode.

Oh and if your Muslim and fasting during Ramadan, Nanny is fearful that you have no idea how to cope with heat.

Dr Paul Cosford, of Public Health England, is quoted in the Telegraph:

“While many people enjoy hot weather, high temperatures can be dangerous, especially for people who may be particularly vulnerable, such as older people, young children and those with serious illnesses. 

Many members of the Muslim community may be fasting during the current period of Ramadan. During hot weather it’s important to balance food and fluid intake between fasts and especially to drink enough water.” 

I am old enough to remember the drought and heatwave of 1976, we didn't have any of this bollocks then and managed to live through it!
