Nanny's chums at Oxford University are upset with feet, inches, pounds, ounces etc etc.
For why?
They worry that the imperial measurements are 'tied deeply to the idea of the Empire'. Therefore Nanny has decreed that imperial measurements should be 'decolonised', due to its links to the British Empire.
Decolonising plans by Oxford's maths, physics and life sciences departments suggest the teaching of the measurements in the curriculum may change, according to The Telegraph.
I am no Oxford Don, but I am pretty sure that feet, inches etc were used in this country before the Empire actually came into being.
America uses the imperial system, and I seem to recall that they fought many years ago to leave the empire.
Regarding using the metric system; well France, Belgium, Italy, Gremany etc use that system and they have all had empires.
Were I a student at Oxford I would demand my money back, because the people in charge appear to be utter morons!
