Oxford University Bans Clapping

It seems that mankind's tradition (it goes back to at least the 6th century BC) of clapping when showing approval has fallen foul of Nanny and her minions.

Students at the University of Oxford have voted to ‘replace clapping’ with a silent wave because it ‘could trigger anxiety’.

They are instead being told to use ‘jazz hands’, where they wave their hands in the air.

The new rules will apply at student union events, and if successful, rolled out to other societies and events.

This makes the students of Oxford look utterly ridiculous.

How did mankind survive before 21st century Nanny and her minions came along?

    2. Different story but same thing. There was a big students union conference a while back where they banned clapping in favour of jazz hands. They got roundly lampooned on Twitter

    Sorry Ken.
'Dedicated to exposing and resisting the Nanny State'
Democracy is finished in the UK.
The wishes of the majority in a national referendum, the root of democracy, have been frustrated by the noisy minority.
The majority of people's votes have been stolen, and those people have been constantly told that they were too stupid to understand what they were voting for.
Only the shouty minority could understand what the consequences were.
Elected Members of Parliament continually ignore the wishes of the electorate and instead focus on their own interests.
And you either copy and paste Twitter posts, post mildly amusing photos from the same social network, or write about the actions of a bunch of students who are trying to do the exact same thing as another bunch of students did a few years ago.
Your blog was entertaining a year or so ago.
    Sadly, not any more.

  7. The demise of the university coupled with the demise of the political party.
