Howden Junior School, in East Yorkshire, has ditched the house names of Sir Walter Raleigh, Admiral Nelson and Francis Drake and the school's student council has voted on the following replacements:
-Greta Thunberg
-Marcus Rashford
-Amanda Gorman
-Malala Yousafzai.
The school can call its houses what it likes. However, what is rather telling is the headmaster's comment about the pupils' knowledge of the banned historical figures.
As per The Mail:
"The headteacher goes on to explain that the school had no 'tangible reason' to keep the historical names and that none of the pupils knew who they were as they were not part of the curriculum."
Maybe this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given that in the last Ofsted inspection, the school was given a "requires improvement" rating:

Whilst things appear to be looking up (if we ignore the rumour mongering in the media about when lockdown will really end), I nevertheless have some feelings of unease.
Apparently the draft version of Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown is more than 50 pages long and has been drawn up by 100 bureaucrats.
I would have more confidence in this if I could be assured that the bureaucrats had some "real world" experience, outside of the civil service/Westminster bubble.
To compound my feelings of unease, Peston and his ilk are pushing hard for domestic vaccine passports.

Depending on which media organisation you follow, Nanny will reopen the pubs and restaurants in:
- April, outside dining/drinking only
- April, fully open
- June or August
- At some undisclosed date but only for those with a vaccine passport
Does this seem a bit confusing?

Is the confusion deliberate, or just an example of incompetence?
Both, but leaning towards deliberate.
For you see children, Nanny is testing the water to gauge our reactions and also softening us up to ensure that whatever roadmap she announces on the 22nd will seem reasonable.
This means that for the next seven days, the media will bombard us with "leaks" and "speculation" which will help no one and increase many people's stress levels. As such, it is advisable to ignore the noise and wait for the 22nd.

Seaford Head School in Seaford has removed Churchill and JK Rowling from the names of school houses after students questioned whether these figures "represent the school's core values".
A letter to parents, students and guardians said that war-time Prime Minister Winston Churchill was "a figure who promoted racism and inequality, unfairly imprisoning and torturing many".
It added that students did not feel Harry Potter author JK Rowling was a a suitable representative, because of her recent words about the trans community.
The letter, addressed from the school's students, is quoted by the Argus:
"Churchill could be considered an important historical figure. However, we are now more aware that Churchill was a figure who promoted racism and inequality, unfairly imprisoning and torturing many."
"Could be considered.."!
The article doesn't mention who was eligible to vote, the turnout and whether a balanced discussion was held before the vote.
Sanitising history and saving modern day sensitive feelings, to avoid the unpleasant reality that human beings have both positive and negative traits will end in tears.
