The Intolerant Scum Infesting Our Universities

Over the last few years there has been a noticeable rise in intolerance of thought and speech in British universities.

Speakers have been deplatformed, statues removed, and professors sacked because their thoughts deeds, actions etc no longer fit in the with closed mindset of those who now choose to dictate to others what can be spoken or thought.

Last night (on the anniversary of Kristallnacht) the Israeli Ambassador to Britain was hounded out of the LSE by a baying lynch mob of scum, egged on by some vile posts on social media.

Student politics has always been "firey". However, to allow it to descend into blatant hatred, intolerance and thuggery on this scale is not only unacceptable, but highly dangerous.

One day some of these scum (those who do not end up flipping burgers) will be in positions of power and influence eg in the media, politics, business etc. That time will be a danger to us all!

In the meantime, I urge to you write to the Director of the LSE Dame Nemat Shafik, asking her what will be done to hunt these people down, expel them from the LSE and ensure they are put in jail.

Her email address is as follows:

If the LSE and other universties cannot sort their own mess out, then they should be shut down.

Universities No Longer Teach Tolerance

It is more than disheartening to see that people who are in "higher education" are no longer prepared to accept that others may hold different political views to them.

What kind of people will they become when they hold positions of responsibility, if they manage to qualify and get a job?

ASDA Fires Employee For Not Being Religious

Image result for asda religion

It seems that ASDA have a zero tolerance policy (which is kind of ironic given the circumstances) when it comes to staff posts on social media.

Brian Leach, an Asda Dewsbury employee of five years, was fired for a social media post.

His crime?

Sharing a Billy Connolly video on Facebook (note he did not share it on inhouse intranet).

The video showed Connolly's anti religion sketch of a a few years ago, in which he rails against Christianity and Islam.

For reasons best known to a particular member of staff, she decided she would report it to ASDA; which then decided the sketch (and therefore Mr Leach) was anti Islamic and a breach of ASDA's "tolerance" policy.

Irrespective of the fact that Mr Leach apologised to ASDA, the offended female and removed his post from his own Facebook page, he was still fired.

He was quoted by the Mirror:
"She was upset. I was aware that she was upset.

I was then pulled into a meeting a couple of weeks later on 9 May in Dewsbury and then on Wednesday, 19 June, I was summarily dismissed without notice following a disciplinary meeting for breaching the company's social media policy.

I'm really upset and I would love to know what Billy Connolly would think about what has happened to me.

I didn't have enough money to join a union so I have not been able to appeal the decision."
His apology to bosses read:
"I fully acknowledge my sharing of material online within my Facebook account regarding religion has upset many people and understand it to be a very serious breach of the company social media policy.

In mitigation, I immediately removed the item causing offence and removed the association with Asda on my profile, also removing Colleagues from Facebook friendship who may have been deeply offended by such post.

I have spoken to affected Colleagues apologising for my post, taking their feedback onboard. I have realised people's faiths are very important to them, and the nature of the post regarding the sensitive nature of it relating to the holy place of Islam.

If I had faith I can imagine being very upset myself.

Saying that the post shared is a joke by Billy Connelly (sic) not my personal views. But I recognise how colleagues may think this is my view. As a result I will think very carefully before posting online or saying anything that could be interpreted as hurtful to others and my place of work."

An Asda spokesman said:
"We would never comment on individual circumstances.

However we do not tolerate any form of discrimination from colleagues or customers and take such behaviour extremely seriously.
It seems to me that ASDA is guilty of showing intolerance and discrimination here, against a man who is not religious!

Prats of The Week - Pembroke JCR

It has been a wee while since I have awarded my prestigious and world acclaimed "Prats of The Week" Award. Thus, without further ado, I am proud to announce that this week it goes to Pembroke JCR of Cambridge University.

For why?

The learned students of Pembroke have got their knickers in a twist over the theme of a forthcoming dance (BOP). Initially it was going to be themed Around The World in 80 Days. However, for reasons that only students could come up with, the theme has been banned.

It seems that Pembroke were worried about offending ethnic minorities.

Eh?

Well you see, people would come in costume.

Still not with you?

The costumes would be from various parts of the world.

So?

Pembroke feel that cultural appropriation may be offensive. Hence, they have banned it.

Here is an extract from the University online newspaper The Tab, explaining this nonsense.

Students divided into two camps over whether the JCR is restricting their freedom of expression or preventing offence towards ethnic minorities

Pembroke JCR decided to change the theme from “Around the World in 80 Days” due to a fear of the “potential for offense” [sic].
In an email sent to Pembroke students earlier this week, the Junior Parlour Committee said a lengthy debate preceded the decision to change the theme of the bop.

Yet again students are displaying all the traits that university is meant to knock out of people, namely:

1 Ignorance
2 Narrow mindedness
3 Arrogance
4 Intolerance
5 Dictatorial tendencies, and
6 Lousy spelling......"offence" is not spelt "offense".

I dread the day when these embryonic dictators assume roles of power and influence in the world.

Pembroke JCR, well deserving Prats of The Week!

Intolerant Students Ban Peter Tatchell

It has come to a pretty pass when so called "educated" students are so afraid of having their world view contradicted that they refuse to listen to the opinions of Peter Tatchell.

I am old enough to remember when Tatchell was often in the public eye, campaigning for issues of equality and having a very robust go at Mugabe. Fair play to Tatchell he often got beaten up by Mugabe's goons, as such the man has guts!

Therefore I am more than disgusted to see that today's students regard him as racist and a transphobic.

FFS, this man has been at the forefront of every anti racist pro equality campaign since I was a nipper!

So disgusted is Tatchell with the state of affairs, that he has written an article in the Telegraph; here are the opening paragraphs:
"Free speech and enlightenment values are under attack in our universities. In the worthy name of defending the weak and marginalised, many student activists are now adopting the unworthy tactic of seeking to close down open debate. They want to censor people they disagree with. I am their latest victim.

This is not quite the Star Chamber, but it is the same intolerant mentality. Student leader Fran Cowling has denounced me as racist and transphobic, even though I’ve supported every anti-racist and pro-transgender campaign during my 49 years of human rights work.

Fran is the LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Officer of the National Union of Students (NUS). She refused to speak at an LGBT event at Canterbury Christ Church University tonight unless I was dropped from the line-up. This is a variation of the NUS “no-platform” policy; instead of blocking me from speaking, Fran is refusing to share a platform with me. "
It would be wise to harken to his warning, free speech and enlightenment are under attack in our universities; not from the state, but from the students themselves!

As he concludes "Bad ideas are best defeated by good ideas. NUS, please take note."
