Nanny Bans Women

Nanny Bans WomenThere is one person worse than Nanny; someone more annoying, more rabid and more keen to stamp down on our freedom.

Whom do I speak of? (or is it "who"?)

I bet you can guess, can't you?

Yes, that's right, Euro Nanny; in the shape and form of our unknown, lazy, corrupt and invisible MEPs, who defraud us of millions via exaggerated/fraudulent expense claims, excess salaries etc.

MEPs want TV regulators in the EU to set guidelines which would see the end of anything deemed to portray women as sex objects, or reinforce gender stereotypes.

In other words attractive women will be banned from advertising anything, eg perfume, bras, steel plate.

Let us be clear, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and very much down to social/cultural norms; so who exactly will determine if a woman is attractive of not?

The new rules have been outlined in a report by the EU's women's rights committee.

Swedish MEP Eva-Britt Svensson(a land I have lived in for 5 years) wants Britain and other members to use existing equality, sexism and discrimination laws to control advertising.

Ms Svensson wants regulatory bodies set up to monitor adverts, and introduce a "zero-tolerance" policy against "sexist insults or degrading images".

Ms Svensson said:

"Gender stereotyping in advertising straitjackets women, men, girls and boys by restricting individuals to predetermined and artificial roles that are often degrading, humiliating and dumbed down for both sexes.

Gender stereotyping in advertising is one of several factors that have a big influence in efforts to make society more gender equal.

When women and men are portrayed in a stereotypical way the consequence may be that it becomes difficult in other contexts to see women and men's resources and abilities
."

Who will set the standards then?

Our own Advertising Standards Authority recognises that the proposals are bollocks:

"Although the ASA supports the overall objectives of the report... the approach suggested is inflexible and impractical."

All well and good.

However, as we know, British Nanny keeps enshrining more and more EU legislation in our own legal framework. These rules will come in via the back door, as our MP's sleep.

Whilst I feel that the EU as a trading pact represents an opportunity for the UK, I believe that all other aspects of this experiment in European unification represents a serious threat to the liberty and freedom of the people of the EU (including us on the tiny offshore unsinkable aircraft carrier, known as Britain).

    Ken,

As long as we remain in the EU we will be subject to more and more of this bullshit.

Our MPs are both stupid and chancers with their eyes on a nice little gravy train ride in the EU when their political 'careers' are over.

Vote UKIP and let's get out.

  2. I get the feeling, the women who are against attractive women in advertising, are themselves, ugly hags.

This is a jelousy thing. It's not the advertisers fault they're ugly.

Aha, when nanny bans all the birds from advertising bras, knickers and all other girly underthings, she/it will probably allow some trannys to do the job - after all they are a disenfranchised, discriminated etc etc group and could do with a dose of nanny positive self esteem that posing for all the knickers ads would doubltess bring them.

There's too much national stereotyping as well, about things like bossy, humourless Swedes. Oh, hang on a minute...

  6. I think gender stereotyping has now gone the other way......Night after night I am bombarded with adverts showing men as idiots in a world of their own while the intelligent woman sorts out the financies etc.....Men are also shown as idiots that walk about with cleaning creams and spray on their person looking for mess to clean up.....The world has gone crazy.....I hate the EUSSR....These faceless dictators are setting out to achieve what Hitler failed to achieve...A giant European Socialist dictatorship, we must pull together again as we did during WW2 and stop the new invasion and destruction of our islands....Why are so many of our politicians of both the main parties so in favour of this anti democratic superstate....What's in it for them?..There must be something as they are in favour effectively of reducing their influence!!....We need more politicians like John Redwood that will stand up to Euro Nanny.

    Tonk,
Redwood (a man I still have respect for in many ways) told me when I debated him online about the EU that Dave and the not so conservative party will never advocate leaving the EU, only reforming it.

You might as well try to reform the SS or the mafia - the institution is beyond control.

Only way to deal with it is to leave it. That is why I stopped voting Tory and joined UKIP.

Censorship of this or any other kind, which is becoming more and more common in the 'brave new world' of the 21st century is simply an erosion of democracy, and more typical of Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia, than a democratic country. I am all in favour of equal opportunities, but the force of the law should be used to deal with real examples of racism, not used on nonsense like this!

"Whilst I feel that the EU as a trading pact represents an opportunity for the UK, I believe that all other aspects of this experiment in European unification represents a serious threat to the liberty and freedom of the people of the EU (including us on the tiny offshore unsinkable aircraft carrier, known as Britain)."

Like many others, I was duped by the lies told by some of our politicians back in 1975 and voted 'yes', because I thought I was simply voting for a trading pact. The truth, which was very different, was kept from us. Had I known then, what I know now, how this country would be betrayed by it's 'leaders' I would definitely have voted 'no'.

Well said, Number Six. I am seriously thinking of doing the same. Indeed, I did vote UKIP at the last election for the European parliament. However,I cannot help but feel (rightly or wrongly) that a vote for UKIP at a general election is, in a way, a wasted vote, because of our electoral system. Worse still, I fear that to do so might even let Brown (or whoever is leading nu Labour then) back in.

Just for clarification, Mr Redwood is my MP and a good MP he is too, even though he no longer lives here in Wokingham.
He is very much a Eurosceptic.

I agree that the Conservative Party has lost it's soul since Mr Cameron took it over....Yes, took it over, he has stifled debate within the party, in my opinion, and appears to be a Blair clone....I long for the day when we get a real Conservative leading our party again.

I agree that we need a referendum on not just the Lisbon Treaty(sic) but on our whole continued membership of the EUSSR. I too was duped, we were told the EEC was merely a trading agreement/block and I watched as we turned our back on our traditional trading partners....With hindsight, I would have voted NO!!

My own preference would be a complete withdrawl from the EUSSR and a return to non PC governance by those that we elect to do so.
I however suspect that, decades of brainwashing of our school children by successive PC governments and teachers would make a "No to the EUSSR vote" a fairly difficult result to achieve, it is also my opinion that, the longer we leave it to have such a vote, the less likely we are to get a No vote regarding the Euro question as there will be fewer of us left that can remember how England and the UK were pre EUSSR.

I am truly saddened to see the demise of my once great nation as it desends deeper and deeper into the cesspit that is the EUSSR.

Eva-Braun Svensson. Basically another bonkers member of the commie-nazi wimmins league. No doubt in cahoots with our own uber-nanny Harriet Harmon.

These repressive scum have proliferated like a virus since the end of the last Cold War. With the demise of communist totalitarianism in the East the communist totalitarian sleepers and agents of change in the West crawled out from under their stones and infested the EU. Brussels became a bolt hole and power bunker for the unelected socialist elite in Europe. Here's one for you ObersturmBANfuhrer Eva-Braun Svenshite:-

"Feminist bigotry and fascist control of advertising straitjackets women, men, girls and boys by restricting individuals to predetermined and artificial roles that are often degrading, humiliating and dumbed down for both sexes.

Feminist bigotry and fascist control of advertising is one of several factors that have a big influence in efforts to make society more gender equal.

When women and men are portrayed in a bigoted feminist fascist way the consequence may be that it becomes difficult in other contexts to see women and men's resources and abilities."

The biggest danger to equality is YOU, Eva-Braun Svenshite and all your freedom-destroying, dictatorial maniac friends in the EUSSR.

I'd like to see Eva-Braun Svenshite and her totalitarian sisters of lunacy banned from advertising their twisted desire to suppress freedom of expression. Crawl back under your stone, Eva-Braun Svenshite, and stop interfering in other peoples lives.

Does this sound angry? It is.

    Lord, Tonk,

I do not harbour any illusions about UKIP winning the next election. I will vote for them as they are the only mainstream party that makes leaving the EU the main plank of their manifesto.

I have thought of voting Tory to ensure Labour's destruction, but in conscience I believe that this voting pattern has got us into the mess we are in now - with both parties essentialy offering the same tired of panaceas to the public whilst being little more than sock puppets for the EU.

In closing, a vote made in conscience and with believe in the party one is voting for is never wasted on a personal level as when Dave 'Boy Green' and his bunch of blue labour MPs sell us out further to the EU (as they will) I can say in all honesty well I never voted for them.

“Whom do I speak of? (or is it "who"?)”

    "Of whom do I speak?"

Of whom, to whom, by whom, at whom, against whom, for whom, besides whom... anything that involves a preposition that covers something going from soething to something.

Basically, you use "whom" instead of "who" in the sort of cases (pun unintentional) where you would use "him" instead of "he".

    Are you sure Number 6?

Some words I read yesterday that related to the UKIP party conference fall out suggested that the leader may be changing (or have already changed) tack on that.

I which case I guess most people are abandoned somewhere up the creek absent a means of useful propulsion.

As for the EU person (Who, I note, on the web page Ken linked to is actually referred to as a SpokesWOMAN rather than a Spokesperson as would be normal in the UK! Presumably, based on the accompanying photo, this is for the avoidance of doubt.) this is hardly a surprise.

With all due respects to Ken's good lady partner, Sweden is not exactly renown historically for its liberal attitudes beneath the surface of the society.

Indeed some of the stories I was told back in the years when I was a regular visitor on business (usually after a few beers had been consumed) suggested that on occasion the authorities, on the pretext of 'protecting' society, could make decisions that would have been a step too far for some extreme left wing states. The story that sticks in my mind related to a young child (possibly children) removed from their family in an early morning armed police raid and transported to foster parent the other side of the country never to be seen by the parents again. (At the time I heard this the situation had apparently been in process for over a decade iirc.) The parent had no idea where the children were. The pretext for the removal was neglect based on an anonymous telephone call.

Now that could be a BS story but no one I spoke to about it dismissed it as impossible.

Against such a background the spokesperson's objectives, as reported, would seem entirely reasonable and rational.

    Grant,

I would not believe the drivel that is printed as "fact" by the mainstream media and yes that includes the broadsheets.

The Independent (which ran a big story on UKIP) is a totally pro EU rag as is the Grundidad. The Telegraph is shifting to the left as well and as for the Sun and Mirror, well if you wants yer news on Amy Shitehouse and Wayne Rooooney that's the place to go.

    Number 6,

    Believe the media?

    You must be joking.

I don't normally accept anything at face value though in order to make any form of comment one has to accept certain views at certain times, though things may change as more information emerges.

The comments I referred to were in the form of 'discussions' and exchanges of experiences on two or three blogs.

I don't take them as fact either. After all, who can tell what is really going on in any politician's mind?

But they are interesting for thought provoking perspective.

Haven't there been similar cases whereby children were removed from their parents for no good reason by over-zealous or politically motivated social workers in this country?

    Swedish MEP Eva-Britt Svensson.....

Followed your link ken and the penny immediately dropped.

She's at best a homely looking old boot who obviously doesn't come close to the gorgeous pouting norm of all those other Swedish lovelies. So no surprises there then.

    Dog.
