Bin Brother - Wheelie Bin Spies

Bin Brother - Wheelie Bin Spies
Nanny's chums in Blackburn with Darwen Council have caused something of a furore with the local residents, after wheelie bins began to go missing from outside taxpayers' homes.

The thieves were none other than two council officers assigned to spy on residents, and find out which of them were using extra "unauthorised" wheelie bins to dispose of their rubbish.

Bins identified as "unauthorised" were stolen by the council.

Errmm...isn't stealing...ermmm...illegal?

The spies also used ladders to peer over garden walls on to lawns and back yards while the occupants were out.

Errmm...isn't that kind of a shitty thing to do?

Local councils really have lost the plot when it comes to knowing their limits. It is time local government was swept away and replaced with a system of administration (not a system of control or enforcement) that the local residents actually want and are prepared to pay for.

Needless to say, the twats in the local council were forced to apologise to householders for their outrageous disregard for the law.

By the way can you guess who runs the council?

Yes, that's right, it's not Nu Labour but a Tory/Liberal council!

You know the procedure by now folks, drop Cameron a note about this as well via this link: Cameron

It seems that the Tory party is really determined to lose the next election.

While it's always a good idea to send your comments to the party which has the majority on the council, remember that it is always the 'officers' (how they love that military sounding title) who actually run the council. These people are experienced at pursuing their own agenda (i.e. more power for 'officers') and running rings around elected councillors. And councillors are unwilling to upset senior 'officers', as they can make councillors' lives very difficult - by getting them hauled up before the ludicrous 'Local Government Standards Commission', for example.

Labour and the Tories are just two sides of the same coin. If the Tories win the next election, it will just be more of the same. Sad but true.

Folks should really consider voting for independent parties to try and break the mould. Many folks will say you're wasting your vote by doing so but, if you don't vote your principles, you're only wasting your own vote. Why keep voting for the lesser of two evils just because you think no one else can win? It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I see this as part of a battle between the LAs and Westminster over who retains some local 'powers' now that most of both group's activities are dictated from Brussels.

Indeed now that the greatest part of our electricity generation capacity is owned by French, German and Spanish companies they even have power over power. I always thought the Scots and the French seemed to have far too cosy links even this far after the Act of Union.

Anyway it is clear that Monsieur Brun and his motley crew have realised that they have no real authority left, which is why the question of replacing powerstations has not been covered in debate over the last 11 years. But they could act as a sort of administration for a Departement of the EUSSR ensuring that the incoming diktats were applied.

They thought that they could lumber the local councils with the political ordure of such things for a time and probably now have decided that that time has come since their lack of authority for self determination for the UK is becoming daily ever more evident.

Given that Brown seems to desire power but not responsibility handing responsibility to Brussels and retaining power if he can would be typical of the man.

Oh well, I guess we get the leaders we deserve - one of the more certain aspects of democracy.
