Nanny Bans Sudoku

My thanks to a loyal reader who pointed me to a sad story about Angela Robinson (widow of Allan Robinson), and her battle with Farndon Parish Council over a two inch square Sudoku puzzle and a one line mathematical equation on her late husband's gravestone (he was a mathematician).

The council, according to the Daily Star, have decreed that the inscriptions are "contrary to the guidelines for headstone inscriptions" and lower the standards of the churchyard. The council want the puzzle and equation removed from the gravestone.

Farndon Parish Council also managed to misspell Mr Robinson's name as "Allen".

Why are councils sometimes so insensitive?

There is a certain mentality that many people that work for the council seem to display......Why do they boss people about?...Because they can. Too many little men and women are drunk on the power they feel their role within the council and their title "officer," gives them.

The officer who made this decision really is below contempt and should be ashamed of themselves but, I doubt they are; I suspect these little weasels, all sit together in their little "officer" tearoom, laughing about what pain and misery they have managed to inflict on those they are actually supposed to be working for.

Perhaps Ken, your prat of the week award needs a sibling called the "Council Twat of the Week award."

Quite agree with everything yin your post, Tonk.

To answer your question, Ken, "Why are councils sometimes so insensitive?" I suggest the answer may be because they are a bunch of @%£#**!!s!

"Farndon Parish Council also managed to misspell Mr Robinson's name as "Allen"".

And these 'people' are supposedly educated!

  3. I would counter that with a question "When aren't council insensitive?"
The elephant in the room is these council types come from within our ranks. Is there some sort of disease running around we are not told about?
