Ker Farking Ching!

Ker Farking Ching!Commiserations to the good ladies of Sawbridgeworth Evening Women's Institute, who recently fell foul of East Hertfordshire Council.

Their crime?

They were handing out flyers for a charity art exhibition.

One of Nanny's "litter wardens" deemed these to be litter, and promptly threatened them with a £80 fine.

Ker Farking Ching!

Seemingly, the warden was of the view it was illegal to hand these flyers out.

Funny that, I thought it was up to the police and courts to decide as to what was legal/illegal.

However, the ladies were in luck for the warden told them they would escape a fine as the warden was in a "good mood".

So, if you are doing something "illegal", if Nanny's enforcer is in a good mood then it is OK?

However, the WI must now obtain a licence from the council to legally hand fliers to passers-by.

Oh, and I should not have called the enforcer a "litter warden". Apparently, the official title is "Area Environmental Inspectors".

Snort!

A very large title, doubtless giving the individuals an inflated sense of their own importance (or is it impotence?).

  1. Here is a dilemma for all Area Environmental Inspectors..........

If handing out pieces of paper is deemed as littering, then shouldn’t handing out fines, written on pieces of paper, be seen as the same thing.

That reminds me of Captain Kirk talking illogic to robots. I wonder if litter wardens will explode in a pile of sparks after reading that one?

Saying they avoid a fine because the warden is in a good mood is just his way of pointing out that we are at the mercy of thier whims.

Surely he was talking bollocks though. Handing someone a leaflet is clearly not littering. Maybe accepting one and then throwing it on the floor....
Trouble is we all have to police each other these days.

  3. The litter warden should have its ticket book rammed up its arse and told that it was an alternative to adult nappies.

  4. Another example of giving too much power to those too daft to be able to cope with it.

The scary thing is that these enforcement officers gain the same powers as police or soldiers should the government ever use the civil contingency act.....We are now a police state complete with spys/conspirators....Pass me those hair clippers and those buckets of tar and feathers.

"Oh, and I should not have called the enforcer a "litter warden". Apparently, the official title is "Area Environmental Inspectors"."

I take it, "Jumped up little t**t of a jobsworth" is incorrect too?"

  6. I'm a mamber of the BNP. We frequenrly hand out leaflets in our town centre. When we do this we carry our membership cards. On the back of every card is the following quote:

" The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. Article 10.

    1. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinionsand to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority regardless of frontiers. "

So it wasn't because the litter warden was in a good mood - it was because he knew he was on a loser.

They have that in San Francisco too, they call them Neighborhood Guides, or something like that. They wear highly reflective vests and pants with their job titles in large letters and peruse their assigned city blocks in groups of two, sometimes picking up litter but mainly eyeballing anyone whom they suspect might litter or drop a cig end, a major crime in that city. It's to create a lot of jobs using taxpayer money to hire the same people who voted the liberal-progressive one-political-party machine into total authority in the first place. Taking ever increasing taxes, the city has now moved upscale and is going to provide fully government paid workers for all the office buildings and white collar jobs next. It's a lovely day when the government can increase taxes then use it to pay off the same people who voted them into power. It doesn't matter private businesses, especially small ones, have nearly all been driven out, as long as there is constant visible surveillance of the population on the streets, whose main concern should be following all the rules as per the propaganda lays out and making sure to read the latest propaganda each morning in the common rags masquerading as newspapers these days.

"Seemingly, the warden was of the view it was illegal to hand these flyers out."

If that is so, it ought to be illegal to hand out most of the other rubbish I get handed in the street, not to mention the 'junk mail' that is pushed through my letterbox, despite my being registered with the mail preference service.

"Funny that, I thought it was up to the police and courts to decide as to what was legal/illegal."

Not in Nanny's 'brave new world', Ken!

"However, the ladies were in luck for the warden told them they would escape a fine as the warden was in a 'good mood'".

His mood was totally irrelevant. Either an offence had been committed, in which case, action needed to be taken, or it hadn't (and I subscibe to the latter view). After all, you would hardly expect a policeman to let off a burglar, armed robber, drug dealer or other criminal because he was in a 'good mood' would you?

"So, if you are doing something "illegal", if Nanny's enforcer is in a good mood then it is OK?"

    Evidently so!
For those of you who have seen the first 'Ghostbusters' film, this gestapo agent, er, sorry, 'litter warden' reminds me of Walter Peck, the obnoxious jerk from the Environment Protection Agency.

I had an enforcement officer on my doorstep yesterday threatening me with the usual pack of lies.

The problem is, we have it in our genes in this country to automatically tip our caps in respect to the gaffer and to anyone else in a position of authority. Nowadays, however, that natural courtesy is being used and abused as a tool of control by the massive army of client-state enforcement drones that now exists.

As a nation, we need to realise what's going on, and resist our automatic instinct to skip when someone in a high-vis jacket says "skip" or dance when they say "dance".

I have absolutely no sympathy with the WI. They have, in recent times, allowed their 'leadership' to be overrun by quango surfers who take an overtly nanny supporting view of the world. Too many organisations that once were powered by the populace ae now powered by nanny behind the scenes whilst still being presented as NGOs.

As I recall they have been told not to bake cakes and make jam and do all the other things that they were once known for at the behest of 'Health and Safety'.

If that was not enough cause for them to rise up in protest (and lets face it I can't think of many other things they have been involved in historically so what else can they lose?) then they are clearly unlikely to put up much of a fight about anything.

Could be worse I suppose. We might be living in Zurich where, I read animals have a legally appointed lawyer to act on their behalf. I really cannot hink of any suitable words to comment on that situation.

Yes - you may be right.

However it seems that over 80% of the voters in the other cantons agree with me.

This is worrying. I don't normally expect to be running with herd or chasing in the pack. My contrarian leanings are tend to ensure that I take a less followed path.
