People eating nuts once a week are 11% less likely to have died during the study than those who never ate nuts.
Up to four portions was linked to a 13% reduction in deaths and a daily handful of nuts cut the death rate during the study by 20%.
Lead researcher Dr Charles Fuchs, from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital, is quoted by the BBC:
"The most obvious benefit was a reduction of 29% in deaths from heart disease, but we also saw a significant reduction - 11% - in the risk of dying from cancer."Please be advised that this article contains no nuts!

More meaningless drivel - and what do they mean by 'portions' anyway? One nut, a handful?
ReplyDeletePerhaps, those that ate nuts had a far healthier diet and lifestyle.....In general terms, those that take care of their health, tend to be careful what they eat.
ReplyDeleteI do find it very hard to believe that all our children now have allergies; I suspect most are just sensitivities; I am sure a small number have full blown allergies but, I suspect many parents are looking at "me too, my kid is special." My own grandsons have both been "indoctrinated" by their mother into thinking they have allergies.....One of them, aged eight at the time, ran out of my orchard screaming that he was allergic to bee stings and that he had seen a bee.....I asked him when he had been stung by a bee, to which he replied, never but mum told me I was......Another incident was when he "dived for comer" behind the sofa because I had a packet of Gingernut" biscuits....He was genuinely scared because he thought they were nuts.....He had, at this time, eaten some of my peanut a year or so prior to this incident so he was not allergic to nuts but, again, his mother had told him he was.....Is this child abuse?
I think the world of Nanny has gone crazy and, to be honest, I'm ready to get off of it now.
Lastly, my valuable advice for a healthy, long life.....Everything in moderation and don't stress yourself out worrying about what Nanny tells you today because by next week, it will be proven to be bullshit.....
A dilettante of mine had a nut allergy. I explained to her I had a fish alergy.
ReplyDeleteWeekend of glorious passion(*). We then went our separate ways. Dunno her name. I don't think I told her mine.

ReplyDeleteThat's because they're not eating pies. I once saw a bloke eating pie 'n' chips in his lap whilst mumbling along in his 911, "handsfree" so of course it is safe. We were all forced to undertake him.
