The Dangers of Tea

The Dangers of TeaHere is rather an old story, that I have only just come across, it well illustrates the daftness of Nanny and her acolytes.

Seemingly in May last year, council bosses in Birmingham banned wardens who care for the elderly from making tea for the elderly.

The reason?

Health and safety issues!

  1. Health and Safety is all we hear about these days. What happened to common sense? And why is Our Beloved Leader spending so much of our money on a series of advertisements on the radio and TV extolling the vitues of H and S even to the extent of saying that listening to that Department will increase a compnay's profits?
What planet do these so-called experts inhabit?
When I was an apprentice during the war we had no H and S, but quickly found out the right way to do things helped in some cases by caustic comments or a quick slap from the journeymen. And it worked.

In the 60's when I was at junior school, final year pupils had to take turns to make the teachers tea at playtime. One boy brought a note from his mum saying she didn't want him to do it in case he hurt himself. He was teased about it for months.

  3. Well the state has excuse for all this nannying, as people expect it to pay (via the NHS) for every dumb-arse thing an individual does, its in its interest to prevent you from hurting yourself.

I fully approve of the site, and the idea behind it, Common sense has been out of fashion for too long.
But please remember that it's those young, left-wing, reactionary creatures known as High Court Judges ruling in favour of every tin-pot lawsuit over the last few decades that has created the no-win, no-fee predators responsible for all this rubbish.
