Service Announcement

Service Announcement
Dear all,

Just to let you know that there will be some disruptions to service during the coming fortnight, as the KenFrost.com empire is moving house.

There's brave for you!

We are contra cyclical and believe that, despite the best efforts of Paulson, Brown, Bush and Congress to destroy the world economy (something that a terrorist or "evil" state could only dream of doing), now is an excellent time to move.

We are of course the last people in Britain selling/buying a house!

We will do our best to maintain a regular service during the coming fortnight.

One small piece of advice to Congress and those worried about "moral hazard".

Voting down the bailout caused real damage to the real economy, like it or not the man in the street is affected by a collapse in world stock markets and failing banks.

The essential truth that those who cite "moral hazard" fail to grasp, or choose for political reasons to ignore, is this.

If your neighbour's house is burning down, even if he started the fire himself, you do not stand idly by watching it burn; you try to put it out.

Once the fire is out, you can punish him afterwards.

We live in interesting times!

Ken

Good Luck with the move Ken.....Not something I would relish the thought of doing....Nothing to do with the economic situation....Just the hard work and hastle that goes with it!!

There is something about moving house that makes people change personalities.
My own dear sweet loving wife during our last move, went from a Stepford Wife to Godzilla in less than an hour!! Rather you than me mate!!

I don't often disagree with you, Ken, but on this I do. I think taxpayers have been shafted long and hard enough, the banks made their money when times were good, I don't see why we should carry the can when times are bad. We're already suffering.

    Good luck with the move.

    Ken,

Good luck with the move. I am sure you will be happy to pay the stamp duty, knowing that it will be spent by our all wise government in a most sensible fashion.

If you are leaving Croydon, please hand in your Burberry cap on the city line as you leave chav central for a new life.

PS, do you recall Captain Sensible's ode to his town "I love you Croydon? A marvellous little ditty.

  7. Ken,

I don't think most Americans object to putting out the fire; it's having to buy your neighbor's house, while in flames, and which he willfully set ablaze, that get's them (us) down.

Paulson's original version of the plan was all of three pages long, gave him carte blanche to spend $700 billion, with no oversight or legal restriction, and even he admitted he didn't really know what he was going to do with the money. He said Treasury would consult with "experts."

Oh, and that $700 billion figure which was announced, a Treasury spokeswoman admitted that it didn't represent any particular data point; they just picked (randomly) a really big number. It's that kind of close scrutiny of detail that explains a lot about where we now are.

America has been down this road before with the Bush administration, after 9-11: "We know what's going on; you don't. Do it our way, or it's the end of the world."

What the country didn't reckon on was the fantastic combination of greed, corruption, arrogance, stupidity, sheer incompetence, and utter disdain for the Constitution and the rule of law embodied in the Bush administration. We've got good reason to be skeptical.

In short, I'm not against the Treasury or the Fed doing something, but I'd like these sons of bitches to stop lying about what they're doing. And I'd like Congress to think it through. That may be asking too much.

Good luck with the move, Ken.

I don't even pretend to know a great deal about economics. However, it appears that the bill was voted down by Republican politicians who were more scared of losing their seats in the November congressional elections, than they were of upsetting their illustrious leader.

  9. Moved house last week - 2nd move in 12 months as we rented for a year and have taken full advantage of falling house prices.
Best advice I was given - make sure you take a box in YOUR own car with the kettle, teabags mugs, glasses, bottle opener/corkscrew and most importantly the gin and tonic. That way you can have a stress busting snorter or two when you have finished directing the removal men. Good luck in your new home.

Herschelian - I once hired a place in France for a holiday and when we got there it was awful. The missus burst into tears, the three kids burst into tears and the woman who owned the place burst into tears. Stayed one night, then moved elsewhere. Luckily the gin and tonic were packed in the most accessible place in the boot of the car. I've always been careful where I pack it since. Damned good advice sir.

Good luck in your new home Ken.

Oh, and one thing we have learnt about moving house is when you get to the new house always make up your bed on arrival - then when you're knackered and had enough, you can just climb into it.

So, can we now anticipate the demise of 'Croydon is Crap' and the unveiling of 'Brighton is bollocks'?

Or maybe 'Brighton is Buggered' could be be closer to the truth?

I recall Brighton quite well. My paternal grandmother moved there (from Sutton as it happens) when my grandfather died. Quite genteel in those days, though a couple of school friends went to the local and quite recently inaugurated University towards the end of her life and one could just tell that things would be changing.

I assume you have not retired yet? Just got tired of clubbing in London?

    Dear Ken,

Funny how you believe Nanny when she points the finger at someone besides the British citizenry.

    how convenient!

Why demand Nanny step in now when you hate her so?

That makes all you've been blogging about much like teenage whining... teenagers don't want mommy and daddy to interfere when they're having fun and doing fine, but the minute they have a boo boo they're calling for a bailout.

I don't know if BBC addressed the root causes of the financial crisis. Government legislating that banks must lend 'sub-prime' loans to people unable to pay back these loans is at the root. So it's the stinking goverment's fault in the first place!

ps. and the stinking crap-filled bailout has passed. But I'll wager Europe's Economy is still America's fault.
