Prats of The Week - Haven Holiday Parks

Prats of The WeekTis the end of the week, and time (methinks) to award one of my coveted and internationally renowned "Prats of The Week" Awards.

This week it goes to the people who run Haven Holiday Parks.

For why?

Ask Andrew and Dawn Norris who were told by a lifeguard at the Haven holiday park site in Chichester, Sussex, that they were forbidden from taking a photo of their four-month-old son in the holiday park swimming pool.

Haven said that cameras and videos were widely banned at most pools in the UK.

Just because other prats enforce this absurd rule, it doesn't mean to say Haven have to!

Have we lost the ability to think for ourselves?

Do we blindly have to follow what others do, without question?

A statement issued by Haven said:

"We can fully understand the disappointment of parents who are unable photograph their children's early endeavours in the swimming pool.

Unfortunately, the use of cameras, videos and camera phones is now widely prohibited in most council and private swimming pools in the UK.

This also applies to sun bed areas, fitness gyms changing areas, aerobic and fitness classes, crèche and play group areas
."

They then drove another nail into their coffin by saying that there were many scenic and suitable areas at its holiday parks for family photographs.

Why, if taking photos in the pool is so evil, do they allow photos to be taken elsewhere?

Surely there is no difference?

  1. This is the natural consequense of brainwashing people into thinking there are paedophiles lurking everywhere to pounce on our children. Commonsense is no longer common and the scenes yesterday at Plymouth magistrates court showed exactly why, as a nation, we could not handle "Sarah's Law" in this country.
Kids are "so protected" now by over protective parents that they grow up with no road sense nor being streetwise. The latter, in my opinion, actually makes young people more vulnerable as they have not been able to develop that extra sense that many of my generation had pre-teens.

I would hate to grow up as a child these days; no freedom, unable to go out on my own, hours of pointless homework from age six and school from three years of age to age eighteen......No wonder the incidence of teenage suicide has risen sharply recently.....I think if I had to go through a modern childhood(sic) I too would top myself!!

I couldn't agree with you more, Tonk. We seem to have rapidly degenerated from the society I grew up in which, although it had many faults, was generally pleasant. Today, there is far more in the way of gadgets and technology, but little freedom, as this thread illustrates perfectly.
I thought places like Haven, who well deserve the award you have given them, Ken, existed for people to enjoy themselves, or am I mistaken in thinking that?

  3. This is a little stupid. The picture (as far as I can tell) only featured their own child so whats the problem?

I could just about understand if people were being asked to see the photos taken (since most people use digital these days) to see that they have only photos of their own children and not loads of others.

I'm not saying its justified but I would understand it with all the fear over child safety.

  4. The perversity is that strangers to us and our children, are allowed to use CCTV to look at the general public anonymously.
I ignore these sort of prats who think they can tell everyone else what to do. They seem to forget they are either both paid public or private servants.
Hopefully Cameron will win the next election and this 'cancer' that exercises us so much will be cut out.

  5. I very much doubt if it will. Too many lucrative contracts involved.

In a society where everyone is equal, it obviously follows that if some people are paedophiles, then everyone is a paedophile and therefore appropriate measures must be taken.

You can substitute 'robber', 'fraudster', 'terrorist' or anything else you like in the above sentence and it will still be true - unless of course the word is 'politician'.

    Yours Sincerely, Big Brother

Are these pratts empowered with enforcement powers?

I'd have told the little jobsworth to go screw and then see what he could do about it.

Easy answer: Take a picture and when challenged say "Oh sorry, I'll delete it". When you get home just run one of the many (free) file recovery programmes, and get it back.

Whatever happened to "the customer is always right"? Personally I'd be thoroughly pissed off should some minor functionary at a facility I've paid to visit, try to tell me what I can or can't do. Yes, I'd tell the jobsworth where to go as I doubt his employers would risk losing a paying customer in these straightened times.

There is a simple solution to this.

Ban children and the begetting of them.

The old saying 'Children should be seen and not heard' is obsolete. 'Children should neither be seen nor heard' is more of the time.

No children, no problem, no kiddy fiddlers. Simple.

Plus the Optimum Population Trust would be delighted since their population control objectives would be achieved in a generation and the planet would be saved.

At the same time Gordon Brown's fiscal policies would be justified since although the revenue streams for paying pensions would quickly dry up it would not matter because the existing bounty could be spread across the few remaining years of the existence of the ageing population.

This plan is idiot proof .... or it would be if there were fewer idiots in the world.

I would simply tell the jobsworth that he is infringing my 'uman rights to enjoy family time in a non-threatening gender neutral safe environment and furthermore his inference that I was a peadophile was deeply insulting and causing me severe emotional tramua and that a law suit would follow. Jobsworths shit themselves at words and phrases they can't understand and their 'management' do just the same in their knickers. Use Nanny against nanny you know it makes sense.
