Baby Exercise

BS
I am gemused to see that Nanny, not content with lecturing adults about obesity and exercise, has now taken to lecturing babies and toddlers about exercise.

Seemingly babies and toddlers need to exercise more, 3 hours a day in fact.

Errmm....precisely how do you get a baby to exercise more? They either move around and explore the world they live in (ie exercise in natural way), or are restrained from doing so by overprotective parents.

The issue, it seems, is not the amount of exercise but the "restraints" imposed on a baby's natural movements/curiosity by risk averse/lazy parents.

It beats me how generations of parents over the millennia managed to function before the advent of Nanny!

  1. Ken,

    You have knocked the nail on the head.
    Some parents are so afraid of being questioned by Nanny's safeguarding teams about normal bruises or marks, that they keep their kids in a protective bubble that actually stifels their development completely.

    I also feel that far too many parents use the TV as a baby sitter/entertainer and this leads to kids struggling to mix socially with other kids and also causes them difficulty in distinguising between the fantasy world of TV/computers and the real world; it also appears to make them less able to concentrate and have a need for instant results.

    We need kids to be allowed to be kids and we need adults to be adults again; my worry is that it may be too late because we have kids of the PC/all men are a danger generation having their own kids now which may well mean that they have already been indoctrinated and will see their behaviour as normal. Sadly, as my generation dies out, freedom for kids to play and get up to mischief in the normal sense, may be consigned to history. I would hate to be a child growing up today.

    Me too, Tonk. They may have far more in the way of material possessions (tvs, computers, ipods etc) which aren't bad in and of themselves. But these things cannot, and do not compensate for all the freedoms that have been eroded from todays children by the elf'n'safety and politically correct gestapo now 'running' the country. Ideally, every one of whom ought to be kicked out, without any compensation. Alas, I fear you are right, and that the damage done by these morons may be irreperable. Those hoping that a change of government might have led to improvements and relaxations in this area must be extremely disappointed.

    My Lord;

    I fear you're correct......I have been a Conservative supporter all my adult life and was a member for much of it; I gave my membership up when we elected Mr Cameron as our leader; personally I backed Mr Davis.....I feel there is no longer a Conservative Party to belong to/vote for now.
    When Mr Cameron and Nick "me too" Clegg came to power, I saw nothing change; Just more progressive cultural Marxism and even more power to the EUSSR. The same unelected and un-touchable people are operating the puppets from behind the scenes, just the public faces of the puppets have changed.

    I am just glad that I won't be around for too much longer to see Great Britain become little more than a region of the superstate.

    I am English rirst; British second but, European NEVER!!!!
