Prats of The Week - Ceredigion County Council

Prats of The Week Congratulations to Ceredigion County Council who are this week's well deserving winners of my prestigious and internationally famous "Prats of The Week" award.

For why?

Ask Gordon Williams, a painter and decorator, who was fined £30 for smoking in his own van.

A passenger in his van, who had also just lit up, was also fined £30.

Seemingly the council are of the view that the van constitutes a place of work!

A spokesman for the council excreted bullshit and said:

"It would be inappropriate for Ceredigion County Council to comment on individual cases.

The legislation allows for a right of appeal and the procedures in relation to this are set out in the notices
."

A nice little earner for the council!

Ceredigion County Council, well deserving Prats of The Week.

  1. Dear Ken,

Is it possible to burn down the headquarters of the Ceredigion County Council? Just as a matter of idle curiosity. Honestly.

Gordon Brown keeps telling us that he is 'listening' to our concerns. Then they let shite like this go on over and over again.

And how about the people who work at home? How about housewives and stay at home moms? Is this a way for nanny to get her jackboot into the door of our homes?

His van is his place of work? Er, do they expect him to decorate the inside of his van or what?

There are jobsworth waste of spaces, then there are council jobsworth waste of spaces.

The longer we let these morons push us around the nastier the backlash is going to be.

Meantime, sue the council fight back kick them in the bollocks via their own idiot laws - what right does the council have poking its nose into your private van etc etc

As with cigarettes so with alcohol and obesity. It has already started, it will get worse.

  9. There is a link on Taking Liberties to a report of, I think, Bolton Council, which is considering a proposal to discontinue funding to theatres that have on-stage smoking as part of their productions. This, of course, follows reports of a demand to target films that portray smoking. It becomes more sinister by the day.

I, however, am feeling rather optimistic today in view of the drubbing that Labour got in Glasgow East. Believe me, if they can't hold Glasgow East, they're absolutely doomed.

Off to the shop for the bubbly...

    Jay,

While it is indeed most agreeable to watch the communist Nu Labour squirm and die, the real power that proposes these idiot laws is the EU.

We can get rid of Labour but we cannot get rid of the EU until we leave. That is why I vote UKIP.

I am not a smoker, and I do actually favour a ban on smoking in places of work, places that sell or serve food, and indeed most indoor locations used by the public or a firm's employees, because of the dangers inherent in passive smoking. However, this case is clearly taking matters much too far. Since Mr Williams owns this van, it is entirely his own business what he does in it, provided that it does not affect others, or is likely to affect others, in a detrimental way.
