Colchester Council recently decided to spend some taxpayers' money on "Nannying type" advice to local parents, by way of 8 parenting guides advising parents about how to keep children safe under the auspices of the "Safer Colchester Partnership".
Eight?!
Why not just one?
The advice, all very "wise" but somehow bleedin' obvious, includes "don't let your teenagers carry weapons".
Fair enough, but those parents who are responsible will know that; those parents who are irresponsible won't read, or care about, the guides anyway.

Of course it's not necessary Ken but, it is all part of Nanny's master plan to completely rule our lives......Education is so dumbed down these days, as is the media, that people are loosing the ability to think for themselves....By increasing the fear in the population through terrorist threats, threats from paedophiles, gun and knife crime, people are getting more and more scared off their own shadows now.....A frightened divided population is easy to control and that, in my opinion, is Nanny's master plan.
ReplyDeleteMy dad was very much 'old school' and I can just hear his opinion if some patronising jobsworth from the local council had poked their unwanted nose into our family's business! He wasn't one to swear (I never heard him do so once) but he did have very strong opinions and wasn't afraid to express them!
ReplyDeleteIf the guide explained how you stop a teenager from carrying a weapon if they want to, or indeed how to stop a teenager from doing anything you don't approve of, it might actually be useful.
ReplyDeleteSomething useful? From a local authority? In your dreams!
