For why have they won the award?
For reasons best known the council and its workers, they recently decided to paint a disabled parking bay around a lamppost in Saffron Walden.
The council then moved the bay away from the lamppost.
Fair enough?
Well no, the new location then blocked some access steps.
The solution?
The correct solution is in fact to make the bay one foot smaller, so that the steps are not blocked.
Has the council done this?
No!
The council's solution is to move the bay back to the lamppost, and then to move the lamppost.

When there is a perception of unlimited cash, then these empire builders don't feel the need to act like a commercial business would and adopt a commonsense approach.
ReplyDeleteThere is far too much money slopping around in Nanny's councils and quangos and the decision makers within these organisations fail to look for value for money when making their decisions.
Sounds like an expensive exercise to me.
ReplyDeleteWith that sort of cost they might have to make a Home Helper redundant………….and then protest about Government spending cuts.
One couldn't make this up! The council's behaviour is reminiscent of a good oldfashioned slapstick comedy such as 'Laurel and Hardy'!
