People of Britain Wake Up!Those of you who doubt that Britain is becoming a police state, should read the article in this week's Spectator entitled New Labour's Police State.

It scared the hell out of me.

Unless the British people wake up, and throw Nanny and her apparatchiks out, the forthcoming general election in 2005 will probably be the last free elections in this country.

  1. So Ken, who'd get your vote? I know usually you don't respond to comments, but please do respond to this one. Knowing what you know, who's the best bet to get us all out of this mess?

  2. Mike,

    Thanks for your post.

We have, at a guess, around 5-6 months until the next general election.

In that time I hope that the issues raised on this site become noticed by the main "opposition" party, and that they make the abolishment of Nanny's powers a key part of their manifesto.

As a politcal party to oppose, by monaing about Nanny, is not enough; they will have to come up with concrete measures that:

    1 Abolish Nanny's powers and

2 Address the domestic issues that have given Nanny the excuse to push these powers through parliament.

Now if the main "opposition" party cannot do this, then people will have to vote for whichever candidate stands the best chance of removing Nanny's lackey from their seat; ie a tactical vote.

It would be of help, if people who read this site could let their friends, colleagues, the media and the political parties know about it.

That way the points raised will get on the agenda, and hopefully be noticed.

Six months or less, not much time.

    Best regards

  3. Good ideas. I've linked to you from my blog, but it doesn't seem many people are reading it, if the TTLB ecosystem is to be believed. Ah well. Nonetheless, I'll keep pointing people to your blog. Places like this may be the only hope we have left.

  4. Dear Nanny knows best.
I don't know how to stem the tide of insane command and control legislation that the New Labor Wankers are going to inflict on the unfortunate subjects of HM. However being a student of history, an instructive comment was made by the architect of left wing (communist) command and control politics in the last century, here are chilling reminders of where England is headed.

Ideas are far more powerful than guns. We don't allow our enemies to have guns, why should we allow them to have ideas?" (Josef Stalin)

"It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything." (Josef Stalin)

So........... mobilizing for another general election is all well and good, but who watches the votes being counted. I'll bet good money it won't be an impartial group of concerned citizens.
An answer to the problem is non violent, successful in the past, countrywide civil disobedience, Gandhi perfected this form of regime change!.

  5. Buckeye, much as I respect your idea, didn't Bliar ban a certain type of non-violent protest after...what was it, something about petrol prices? And do the nonviolent bits of the Mayday protests ever really accomplish anything?

Ken, sorry about that, the TTLB ecosystem can be found here:

If you ever get bored enough to visit my humble blog, you'll see my status on the right of the 'content' (such as it is). That tells the writer and the reader how many people are reading the blog, and thus how much attention the content is getting.

  6. This bloke was due in court on Wed, 01/12 wasn't he? Does anyone know what happened?
