Booze Matters - Nanny Bans Sex

A quick and dirty article today, as moving in day looms tomorrow.

Nanny is trying to cut down the amount of free drinks offered to ladies in pubs and clubs, seemingly she is of the belief that sex and booze should not mix.

My dear old Nanny, sex and booze are inextricably linked and have been so since time began. Hell will freeze over before you are able to decouple that link.

Indeed I would go on to say that a large percentage of the human race would not exist today were it not for the "romantic" effectS of booze.

Ah, I see the plan here.

Nanny wishes to close down all booze and sex emporia. On of the most obvious emporia of that type has to be the Palace of Westminster.

So Nanny would close the Palace of Westminster.

Thus would we become a publicly confirmed subregion within the EU rather than the apparently self determining country that is commonly reported today.

Either that or Nanny, having eroded the visible symbolic icons of 'democracy' could launch into a dictatorship as and when the EU collapses.

One might imagine a future career path for bootleggers. Or should that be Bootlickers?

    (Bootliquors? Bootliqueurs?)

Tax it, regulate it, throw money at it or ban it....Nanny's prefered options when dealing with anything.

Good Luck with the move Ken....I am amazed that you have chosen to move to an area that is renowned for it's Nannyish PC council....I hope you know what you are doing:-))

  3. Nanny doesn't want the competition from booze once she gets her charges hooked on soma. They might start geting pissed off (or just pissed) again.

"All the advantages of Christianity and alcohol; none of their defects."

"Swallowing half an hour before closing time, that second dose of soma had raised a quite impenetrable wall between the actual universe and their minds."

I don't understand anything," she said with decision, determined to preserve her incomprehension intact. "Nothing. Least of all," she continued in another tone "why you don't take soma when you have these dreadful ideas of yours. You'd forget all about them. And instead of feeling miserable, you'd be jolly. So jolly,"

If London Plumbers are as good at plumbing as they are at making one line of HTML work, I’ll stick with DIY.

We thought we'd live forever and a day.
We'd live the life we choose

Those were the days, oh yes those were the days."

    And then - Zanu Labour....

Nanny really does suffer from a mental illness (and I can't remember its name) but, on the one hand, she wants to empower wimmin, and on the other, she wants to protect women.

I write this as a woman who is adult, of sound mind and in no need of nanny's protection. I am perfectly capable of gauging the point at which I ought to refuse another drink. I also believe that the law already protects me from predatory men (I wish!) who might take advantage of me. I suggest that Nanny concerns herself with the fact that the economy's f*cked and that people are rather more worried about having a home and a job in six months time than on legislation that either prohibits women from having another drink or men from 'chancing their arm'.

But, hey ho, this is the Government that, after the sh*t hit the fan, again, a few weeks ago, launched an initiative to ...offer free theatre tickets to encourage the next generation of theatregoers...

PS I heard Mzzz Jacqui Smith make a statement this evening following the defeat of the 42 days detention bill. It's tone and content summed up the horror that is NuLabour: she sounded like a playground bully who warns of retribution, not having got her own way.

    Two expressions come to mind:

    1. Fiddling while Rome burns . . .

    2. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic . . .

Government seems to do more and more of both these days. Oh well, I suppose that when you can no address real problems, the only recourse left is to deal with the imaginary ones.

Not wishing to raise false hopes, but …

Given that the nuisance factor and general torment unleashed on the public by the state (health & safety, espionage, cameras etc - with even nastier things planned for the next 12 months) are usually in proportion to the amount of money available to waste ....

And given all the doom & gloom about an economic downturn and local councils being massively exposed to crashed Icelandic banks ....

And given that every cloud has a silver lining ....

One side-effect might be an end to this relentless year-on-year increase in the number of people paid to regulate, snoop and police our lives.

Well, I didn't hear that interview - I rarely listen to the news - but coincidentally it has occurred to me that we should start a campaign to rename Nanny to Banny.

This of course would be a short form for a Bullying nANNY and, perhaps unremarkably, would actually describe how she sets out to micro-manage her subjects by banning things.

    What do we think?

    Worthy of a campaign?
