Prats of The Week - Thurrock Council

Prats of The WeekWell done Thurrock Council for winning this week's "Prats of The Week" Award.

Volunteers of North Stifford had been hard at work clearing their area of litter, and had managed to fill 43 bags of rubbish (bags that had been provided by the council for the voluntary litter clean up).

Now here comes the problem.

The volunteers then received an email reprimand from the council, telling them that the results of their cleaning up had been "excessive. It seems that the 43 bags filled up the bin men's lorry to such an extent, that they couldn't then go on and do their normal round.

Thurrock council have now apologised, and claim that the email was sent in error (I guess that the apology has nothing to do with the fact that the media were sniffing around then?)

Thurrock Council, well deserving Prats of The Week.

Maybe the volunteers could have appeased the council by burning the rubbish by the side of the road instead?

Why had the council not done the job? After all the good citizens pay through the arse for council tax.

I suppose it was too much to expect their bin crew to empty their truck before completing their round?,,.....Too simple perhaps for them.

It is amazing, as you point out Ken, that once our respected council bullies are exposed to the sunlight of media attention, they quickly crawl back under their rocks.....I would love to know how an Email can be written and then sent out accidently....."Well deserving prats of the week!!

Enjoy a lack of council services responsibly.

These jobsworths should be bloody greatful for the efforts by the volunteers of North Stifford, instead of treating them in this appalling manner. I would quite understand it if the volunteers decided not to bother another time. I also reckon the council only thought up this bs of an excuse through fear of bad publicity. As Tonk asked, how can you 'accidentally' send an email?

    My Lord,

It is indeed a good question.....Speaking from my own experience....I have been online since 1996 and since then, I have never found my self accidently composing and typing an Email out and then sending it to a third party in error;-)
