Happy New Year

Having it Large!
Lest there be any doubt, we had it large this Christmas at Frost Towers (ensuring that Nanny's warnings about exploding gravy, booze, salt, Christmas baubles etc were wholeheartedly ignored).

In the spirit of the season would like to wish you all a very happy, peaceful and prosperous (will Gordon "Smiler" Brown allow me to use that word?) 2009.

Happy New Year to one and all!

I have to observe Ken that your festive Turkey looks well and truly Browned, in the sense that it seems quite stuffed and would have been unable to vote for any alternative outcome.

My late Father-in-Law, who had met and dealt with a number of politicians and high level Civil Servants in his career, never offered much of an opinion about then - except for Brown. I distinctly recall him, about 10 years ago, offering the unsolicited advice that Brown was the most dangerous Chancellor, and politician in general, of his long experience.

    How right he was.

So, fasten seat belts and batten down the hatches, 2009 could be a very bumpy ride indeed. Good luck everyone.

  3. Ken,

Thanks for another year of outstanding service at the helm of Nanny Knows Best. I'm sure you've annoyed Nanny to no end, and kept the rest of us chuckling -- and sometimes cursing -- along.

Best wishes for 2009. Let's keep the global economy chugging along, lest Nanny try to "rescue" us from our own imporvident ways.

To all the regulars on here and to Ken - a Happy New Year and thanks for a great blog.

2009 looks set to be a character-building year but at least it's one year closer to the GE...

    Ken and the usual suspects:

    Happy new year!

Tonight at Ivan's castle we are having copious quantities of Jamaican rum and Canadian white wine.

Dinner is going to be Jerked pork, cooked on the barbecue, along with roasted breadfruit (memories of William Bligh) and deep fried plantain.

I expect nanny will be quite piqued at me.

Happy new year. All the best for next year.

    Ivan.

Well I for one took Nanny's advice, I drank a half of bitter shandy (and will not now drink booze again for a year, lest I exceed Nanny's "recommendations"), I "passive smoked" in the freezing cold outside my half-empty local pub (although it was FULL of invisible non-smakers)and I had a bowl full of "Eco-friendly" muesli. I look forward to an even more miserable New Year when the Puritans consolidate their hold on out once tolerant and great country. Happy New Year to all.....(Am I allowed to say that?)

Old Greeny, I believe the word 'happy' is to be banned this year - evidence suggests that it foments prole resentment and discontent by reminding us of what we've lost.

A little good news, however - smokers are at last getting organised and fighting back against the lies and spin

Well, I hope to have thoroughly pissed off Nanny by having my first outdoor swim of the year in just my cozzie. River temp was 3.9*C and my balls are just thinking about dropping back into place. Anyway, a happy new year to everyone, and I'd like to think 2009 will be the year we turn the tables on the H&S Gestapo.

Just discovered your blog - brilliant!
The Nanny State does my head in and is one of MY top 'grumps'. Thank god the festivities are now over and I can remove all the safety wear (inc asbestos underpants).
A Happy New Year sir, to you and yours and keep on tugging those apron strings.

Happy New Year to you and your kin, Ken.
    Cor, that rhymes!

Looking forward to more ridiculous readings.

    Cheers - Andy

  11. I see that a teenage boy has been awarded an ASBO and FORBIDDEN TO CARRY PENS because he wrote rude remarks on walls about girls.

Why don't they just chop his hands off and have done with it?

    Shouldn't that have been 'chancer'?

A very happy new year to you, Ken and all the contributors to this website. Keep up the good work!

  13. A belated 'Happy New Year' as I have been off raising two digits at Nanny by also stuffing my face with seasonal delicacies...two Christmas dinners, several parties, a New Year spread and to round it off a nice plump duck and all the trimmings yesterday.

Do I feel remorseful about doing so ? Not one jot!
