Nanny Wants More Canadian Porn
My thanks to a loyal reader from Canada who has a alerted me to some Canadian Nanny nonsense (courtesy of the National Post) regarding porn shown on AOV Adult Movie Channel, XXX Action Clips and Maleflixxx (Canadian TV channels), it seems that not enough of the porn is Canadian.
Nanny's chums from the Canadian Radio-television & Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) have been up all night watching bucket loads of porn, and have decreed that there are insufficient levels of Canadian-made pornography (the threshold is 35%) plus what is shown has not been close-captioned. As such, the CRTC has issued a reprimand to the three TV channels.
Incidentally, under standard CRTC policy, Canadian channels must also cater to the blind by offering “Audio Description,” a service in which narrators describe “graphics that appear on the screen.”
I see......erm thoughts and comments on how that would work anyone??
Good to know that Nanny spends taxpayers' money on watching porn.

"Lonely housewife wearing only a towel opening door to TV repair man with a cheesy mustache...."
ReplyDeletePorn stars aren't living in Canada. Too damn cold. They are in California or South America.
Is this what is meant by "Graphic sex scenes"/
ReplyDeleteThe newspapers have been having a field day with this story, especially the editorials and cartoons. Here's an example of the opening paragraph of the Globe and Mail editorial:
ReplyDelete'You’ve got to hand it to the CRTC: The broadcast regulator has managed to turn a dry discussion of Canadian content rules into something kind of sexy. Or maybe they’ve turned something sexy into a dry bureaucratic discussion. Either way, the regulator isn’t against sex, per se, as long as the sex is Canadian. And figuring out just how Canadian the sex must be, in order to be Canadian enough? At the CRTC, this is called “foreplay.” '
The more we laugh at Nanny, the better.
