Saint Jamie of Oliver has coordinated a letter to Theresa May, signed by Corbyn, Sturgeon, Cable and Lucas, that calls upon Nanny to ban buy-one-get-one-free offers on junk food, and impose strict new rules on how and when it can be advertised.
"We are writing to urge you to take bold action to tackle one of the greatest health challenges of our time. A crisis which is putting immense pressure on the NHS as it approaches its 70th birthday."The pressure on the NHS is brought about by the following:
- unrealistic expectations of what the NHS can do for people
- people living far too long, but not living a quality dignified life
- people misusing the NHS without consideration to those who are really ill
The fact is severely obese people die earlier than those who aren't, as such they are not the main drain on the NHS's resources.
Does it not occur to people that once the state starts dictating what we may/may not eat and drink then we may as well end our lives now, as the most basic of freedoms will have been taken away from us?

How have we become just peasants to obey the rantings of the stupid and uninformed, not forgetting the "celebs". What a sad place our once famous land of freedoms, all destroyed at the whim of the clowns!
ReplyDeleteFat fuckers do cost more to treat. Normal people can manage minor ailments with exercise and a healthy diet, but whether they are a drain on the NHS is debatable, as I am convinced that the NHS would manage to spend however much they are given and still ask for more.
ReplyDeleteInstead of dictating what people should eat or drink, I think that the answer is to educate.
Show people why a McDonald's burger tastes nothing like beef and why the 'fries' that seem to come with everything bear no resemblance to chipped potatoes.
Let people know why a Kentucky fried chicken leg is about a third of the size of a normal chickens.
Explain what the 'cheese' on a takeaway pizza actually is.
Do those things and let people make their own minds up.
"Normal people can manage minor ailments with exercise and a healthy diet"
ReplyDeleteAmazing really that we ever bothered with doctors if it was so very easy to treat disease.
Amazing that we bother with education when there are still ficktards that cannot differentiate between disease and minor ailments.
ReplyDeleteNone of the above at next council elections in May What is the matter with politicians? This is not a free country. The public should be able to choose what to buy ,the vendor must be free to sell. I don't buy any political party.
ReplyDeleteSorry Gray, but I think you're wrong.
ReplyDeleteYou have made the point several times that because all politicians are basically the same, then there is no point voting.
But our democracy was hard fought for and many sacrifices were made to ensure that we have the right to vote.
If you feel strongly enough about an issue then take it up with a political candidate.
If you don't get the reassurances that you want, then try another of the bastards.
But wasting a vote is an easy cop out, and disrespectful to the many that fought and died for your rights
Politicians are moronic if they think I will vote for any of them at next council and subsequent elections They plain package, over tax and cover up a product I use. They want my vote? Morons
