Those of you hoping that the UK might benefit from Nanny's Covid Inquiry are to be severely disappointed.

The Inquiry will run for several years, and is not expected to conclude until Summer 2026. By way of comparison, Sweden has already had its Inquiry.

To add insult to injury, the Inquiry will be taking evidence from members of FAKE SAGE (the group of political activists who used Covid to promote their communist agenda).

The final nail in the coffin of credibility for this tainted Inquiry, is the fact that people who attend will be required to take Covid tests!

The Independent lead with "Calls for Johnson to act on high Covid cases", ignoring the fact that hospitalisations, deaths and cases in the vulnerable are actually falling.

So why oh why did the paper call for this?

They consulted an "expert" Professor Kamlesh Khunti who, by happenstance, used to be on FAKE SAGE.

As I have noted many times before, FAKE SAGE is a group of political activists who are using Covid to imposed their political dogmas on others.

Be warned that certain sections of the media, political activists posing as doctors and wannabe FAKE SAGE members are coordinating another campaign to try to force the government to introduce more restrictions.

The current click bait headlines are:

1 The majority of people want another lockdown

2 Cases are rising/spiking

FACTOIDS

1 The "majority" were in fact 39% of readers of the Independent who answered an online poll.

2 Cases have been falling for the last week.

In short, be aware that these people are using the Covid crisis to pursue their own political agenda.

The £18BN Cost of Plan B

 

As I have noted several times on this site, there has been a coordinated campaign by certain sections of the media, political activists posing as doctors and FAKE SAGE for the government to immediately go to Plan B.

These people say that Plan B doesn't cost anything. This of course is nonsense, the media today report that the costs of Plan B (were it to be enacted for 5 months) would be £18BN.

As per Politico:

"On the eve of Chancellor Rishi Sunak's budget statement and government-wide spending review on Wednesday, the internal Treasury impact assessment warns that moving to Plan B would cost the economy between £11 billion and £18 billion in the period up until March 2022 — or more than £800 million per week.

The Treasury's main concern is over the effect that millions of people switching back to working from home would have on businesses, particularly in inner-city areas and towns, while working from home is envisaged to have only a moderately positive impact on reducing transmission."

Additionally, Covid passports would be a kick in the nuts for the entertainment industry, without any benefits for the nations' health:

"It finds that a COVID certification scheme would reduce transmission at these events by 40-45 percent. But it warns that, because only 2-13 percent of overall community transmission takes place in venues covered by the scheme, there would only be a "moderate impact from reduced community transmission." The figures suggest certification would reduce overall community transmission by 1-5 percent.

Vaccine passports would have a "high impact" on the economy and could cause "wider impacts" exacerbating Britain's supply chain crisis, the assessment finds.

In other words Plan B and Covid passports would have large economic costs, but produce little health benefits!

The Volte Farce of Nanny's Covid Experts

 

Dr Doom (aka Neil Ferguson) said 10 days ago it was “almost inevitable” that the U.K. would hit 100,000 daily cases, and possibly as many as 200,000.

However, yesterday he executed a volte farce and said:

“I’m quite happy to be wrong if it’s wrong in the right direction. If case numbers stay low, that will be really good news.

I think I’m positive that by late September, October time, we will be looking back at most of the pandemic.”

By happenstance Prof Karl Friston, Professor of Imaging Neuroscience, UCL, and panellist on the ‘Independent SAGE’ with special responsibility for modelling, said that models shouldn't be used for predictions:

"It may be that people have been over interpreting the worst-case scenario modelling from the SPI-M that suggested a hundred thousand cases per day over the summer. 

However, these reports are carefully qualified and say explicitly that they are not forecasts and predictions."

Now whilst it is all very nice and welcome that these "experts" are telling us things look better, models shouldn't be relied upon and it's better to be over cautious, they are neglecting several key facts:

• Many people have been worried shitless over the past few months because of their doom laden predictions

• The government and media have been relying on these models

• The government has made decisions based on these models

• The consequences of the decisions made (eg lockdowns and ongoing restrictions) have inflicted considerable costs on businesses and considerable costs (mental, health, financial) on individuals

You cannot just wash your hands of these models by saying they shouldn't be used as forecasts etc!
