Pain Killers

Pain KillersAs we all know Nanny these days is tad prissy about pain killers. Trying to buy more than a box at any one time causes quite a rumpus in shops and pharmacies. Seemingly Nanny thinks that a few milligrams over her "safe" limits will do us immeasurable damage.

I say bollocks!

I had a bad headache coming on during an evening out with friends last night, and so resorted to an industrial strength Ibuprofen (purchased abroad) of 600mg per tablet. I had 4 tablets, as the warning label was in Spanish I felt duty bound to ignore it, washed down with a refreshing cointreau.

Here I am today, fit and well; admittedly I could hear the colour blue last night, but I put that down to the headache.

It’s Nanny aided and abetted by the pharmaceutical companies. Think of all the extra profits to be made by selling us their products in small quantities

  2. I wonder if Nanny has considered the risk involved in selling multi packs of spring water. Has she considered that one might drown in the quantity contained in these multi packs?

I'm sure that if Nanny ever introduces ID card they will be used to track how often and how much you buy over-the-counter medication. What better way of forcing people to have ID cards?

Of course they may also being a way of ensuring the spread of MRSA ...

  4. What does the colour Blue sound like? Anything like Cilla Black screeching inside a T54?

  5. That dose per day would do for gout.
You mess with the non steroidals and they will give your stomach something to think about.

  6. Ken, next time you have a headache just open a normal 200mg pack that can be bought anywhere over the counter and take 2 tablets. 400mg is a very efficient dosage that is also well below the safety level.

  7. I think even I might hesitate to take 4 x600mg tablets of Ibuprofen in one go, whether washed by strong drink or not.

I suspect even your average carthorse might find that a strong dose.

  8. Gah! You were very silly. Is such a large does actually that much more effective than the standard dose anyway.

  9. On Saturday morning I attempted to purchase two boxes of asprin and a box of Lemsip Cold & Flu relief from a branch of Tesco. Nope, couldn't. I could have the asprin or one box of asprin and the Lemsip.
So I bought the two boxes of asprin then called at a corner shop on my way home and bought two boxes of Lemsip.

Some moronic half-wit actually dreamed up that legislation. It beggars belief doesn't it? It's like king size Mars bars - banned - but you can still buy two, three, four or even more of the regular ones. We are being governed by IDIOTS! I blame Barbara Castle. It all started with her and her stupid 70 mph motorway speed limit. "Cry codswallop, let slip the dogs of 'ealth'n'safety!"

  11. Last year, just before going to Spain to visit friends my husband had a tooth out and asked for antibiotics as the last time had had a lot of trouble. Dentist said that he shouldn't need them, but if he did to call in and he would give him a prescription.

He did need them, called in during work hours to be told dentist not available, call back next week. He explained we were off to Spain that weekend and he needed something before going. Hard luck, was what he was told!

Get to Spain and go the local Pharmacy and ask for Amoxicillin, the antibiotic he had had prescribed before in 250 mg capsules. No problem, they produced a months supply but in 500mg capsules and charged 3 Euros! Whilst in Spain, we stocked up, use by date being sometime in 2009, and how have a supply at home, which come in handy now and again if either of us gets an Abscess.

It's almost cheaper to go to Spain and buy these things over the counter than to fill a prescription here!

The world has gone crazy, if they can't control it they just want to Ban It!

Why can't we try to prevent suicide. DIRTY EUROPEAN SOCIALIST Suicide rates need to be cut. MRSA is high in most nations. In the USA it is higher.
