Another Day, Another Database

Another Day, Another Database
Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes Nanny ignores the fact that she "doesn't do IT" nor data security at all well, and has decided to create yet another database that will poke into the daily lives and communications of her subjects.

This time she intends to monitor the daily communications, and verbal diarrhea, of those who use social networking sites such as Faecesbook, Bimbo and MySpace etc.

Nanny wants to monitor messages sent via these sites, and add them to her planned database that will store information about every phone call, e-mail and internet visit made by everyone in the United Kingdom.

Aside from the so many obvious issues about such a database (eg privacy, security, civil liberties, cost etc) there is one blindingly obvious question:

Does anyone seriously think that Nanny is capable of building a system that is large enough, and efficient enough, to store all of this data?

Politicians don't do IT, and are seen as dimwitted "patsies" by the IT firms and rip off "consultants" who sell Nanny second rate "toot" that is well past is sell by date.

I seriously doubt that, even if Nanny ever did manage to build this behemoth (at great expense to us), the "terrorists" that she believes lurk under our beds would be quite so dimwitted to post messages that identify exactly what they are going to do on Faecesbook.

    Ken,

Remember, the more money Nanny can throw at something the more successful she believes she is....Never mind about value for money.....She appears to be getting the necessary stuff in place for the post democratic era....According to some sites, you will soon need a license to operate your NKB website....Being a site anti Nanny and what she stands for, do you think you will be granted such license?....I doubt it; I was very impressed with Dan Hannon's speach to a very grining Gordon Brown in the EUSSR Parliament, I wonder why that has not been reported and shown on our twenty four hour news channels...Are the media all part of Nanny's plan?
Every dictator knows that if you control access to news and information, you can control the population....Stalin would be proud of New Labour!!

  2. As the Governor of the Bank of England has pointed out, Nanny is running out of money. It's a pity that the same Governor is obligingly printing more for her under the gobbledygook label of 'Quantitative Easing' [newspeak for debauching the currency: something for which rogue coiners had their noses clipped under the first Queen Elizabeth].

What bothers me about this global economic mess is that none of those attempting to sort it out seem to have the slightest clue what they are doing.

Ghastly Gordon keeps on jeering at the Tories for being the "do nothing party", but he has evidently never been told that it is better to do nothing than to do the wrong things, which it is now clear he has been doing consistently since 1997.

Things are becoming more Orwellian by the day.

It's no longer a question of whether something CAN be done nor even perhaps of SOMETHING being seen to be done. Merely the THREAT of something rumoured is enough so long as the masses can be few the required level of BS.

It's amazing what can be achieved with a Common Purpose.

  4. Ken,

Silicon chips implanted in the brain at birth (or perhaps, in the test tube) are far more cost efficient. When will Nanny get it right?

Just download TorPark, and surf anonymously. No way can anyone track what you look at.

Not that I think any government project by Cap Gemini or PA consulting would ever be a success...
