The Dangers of Flags
I see that St George's Day last week was not able to pass without some Nannyism.
Liverpool Council (much "respected" by the residents of Liverpool) decided to remove St George's flags erected (can I say "erected"?) across the main road of Walton.
Seemingly the council was worried that they might fly off and obscure the windscreens of passing cars. Nanny's chums on the council sent out a workman in a truck with a cherry-picker to take all the flags down, accompanied by policemen in an unmarked van.
Nice to see that during times of economic crisis the council is still happy to waste taxpayers' money on a piffling health and safety "issue".
I am pleased to say that Nanny and the council got a sound kicking from the citizens of Liverpool, hundreds of whom inundated local radio stations with phone calls to complain.
The council was forced to reattach many of the flags.

Glad to see that the Scousers don't take this lying down and got the (ineffectual Lib-Dumb) council to re-think!
ReplyDeleteHow strange, I seem to recall banners proclaiming 'race hate' from a certain religious group who must remain nameless, lest one be accused of islamaphobia, (oops) being hung from windows and across streets in parts of what was once called London.
ReplyDeleteNanny must have been busy with her five a day organic veg enforcement on that day as doubtless she would have been quick to act on elf and saferty grounds to have them removed at once!
Ooh I agree that strings of flags across streets should be removed ...
ReplyDelete... to make way for strings of councillors, gently hung between lamp-posts until fit for a good, multicultural (i.e., Muslim), burial.
A pity a few more places don't follow this excellent example of how to deal with Nanny's jobsworths by the good people of Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteToo right, Number 6, if the flags had been put up by a certain religious organisation, the council would not have dared to touch them!
I agree with your comment too, W.S.Badfellowe!
My dear Lord, Nanny is indeed most selective as to where she puts her withered claws. Her little jobsworths, whose tiny brains have been further diminished by hours of 'cultural and diversity awareness in the post modern society' lectures are incapable of acting against anyone of a 'religiously, socially disadvantaged position in society.'
ReplyDeleteThat leaves the rest of the law abiding populace for her to target.
This proves that the jobsworth feckwits in charge of schemes like this DO know what the public think of them, or else they wouldn't have asked for police back up.
ReplyDeleteAnd doesn't this action constitute trespass? I don't see that it makes any difference if they use a cherry picker, or march up your drive with a ladder - they are still removing your property, from your property!
Microdave - a good point. I always take nanny on by using the law of the land against her. Often, the fact that a 'mere citizen' challenges the auld bitch is enough to send her and her minions scuttling back under their rocks.
ReplyDeleteNanny made the violin - just learn how to play it to your advantage.

Or those whom Nanny and her minions claim are suffering in this manner, often for her own political purposes.
