Prats of The Week - Radstock Town Council

Goodness me it has been yonks since I have awarded my prestigious, and internationally renowned, Prats of The Week Award.

Therefore, without further ado, I hereby award it to Radstock Town council.

For why?

Well the "learned" town councillors have decreed that the flag of St George will no  longer be flown over Radstock, because it is "inappropriate".

The discussion and decision arose as a result of debate over the repairs to the civic flagpole to ensure a Union Jack could be flown on Armistice Day.

Why is the flag "inappropriate"?

It seems that the councillors are fretting over the Crusades (that took place 700 years ago), and worry that Muslims will be offended by the flag.

Labour councillor Eleanor Jackson claims that its use during the Crusades of the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries could mean the English national flag could be seen by some as offensive.

She is quoted by This Is Somerset:
"My big problem is that it is offensive to some Muslims but even more so that it has been hijacked by the far right. My thoughts are we ought to drop it for 20 years."
She suggested the Union flag was a more inclusive and suitable way of displaying national pride.

The council will also be flying the In Bloom flag at the Miners' Memorial Garden to celebrate the town's achievements in the gardening competition and the rainbow flag, the symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride movement, at "appropriate" times of the year.

There are also plans for a flag to be designed specially for Radstock.

What a load of bollocks!

By that token, the Union flag could be seen as being offensive to the French, Germans, Italians, Austrians and Japanese who we have all had bust ups with over the last two hundred years ever since the Union flag came into being!

I would also note that we were invaded by the Romans 2,000 years ago. Does this mean I should boycott my local Italian because the sight of the Italian flag reminds me of the "horrors" of Roman occupation (all those aqueducts, roads and bath houses - don't get me started!).

Quite rightly Nasima Begum, a spokeswoman for the Muslim Council of Britain, said it encouraged the flying of the St George's flag.
"St George needs to take his rightful place as a national symbol of inclusivity rather than a symbol of hatred. St George actually lived before the birth of Islam and should not be associated with any hatred of Muslims."
Well said!

Radstock Town council, well deserving Prats of The Week!

USA Nanny Bans Flags

It's not just the UK that suffers under Nanny and her rules and restrictions, the good people of the USA also have a few wee problems with Nanny.

My thanks to a loyal reader from the USA who sent me the above picture, seemingly the owner of the house was forbidden by Nanny USA (his local homeowners association) from flying his own country's flag; therefore he took the appropriate action!

I think it looks splendid!

If anyone knows the owner of the house, please let him know he has been featured here.

Nanny Bans St George

As we all know, the World Cup kicks off today.

Even David Cameron is attempting to be seen to be bothered, and is going to fly the cross of St George flag from Downing Street.

However, within the Nanny state there lurks a group of people who fear the cross of St George and being identified as being "Engerlish".

I cite the case of Bolton At Home (a company that manages 18,000 council homes in the Manchester area), which has banned its 1,200 workers from flying England flags on their own cars.

For why?

Nanny deems the flag to be racist!

Nanny also deems the flying of the flag as "discrimination" against those who don't support England during the World Cup.

What a bunch of pathetic twats!

These are the private cars of employees, not company owned vehicles; Nanny has no authority over what people append to their own vehicles.

The rule (no flags, stickers, posters etc) applies to Bolton At Home branded vehicles (fair enough), public offices (fair enough) and any personal vehicles used for work and for which an employee claims 'essential or casual car allowance'.

Twats!

Being English is not a matter of ethnic origin, or indeed geographic location, it is a state of mind.

The Dangers of Flags

Flag
Congratulations to South Kesteven District Council for their contribution to the Nanny state. The health and safety "gurus" of the council have banned the town hall from flying the Union Flag on Armed Forces Day, 27 June, as climbing 8ft to reach the pole has been deemed 'too dangerous'.

The ban also applies to the St George's Cross flag, which is usually flown from the town hall on the Queen's birthday June 13.

The health and safety "gurus" are worried that the person mounting the ladder may slip and impale himself on the spiked gate below.

The irony being that the spiked gate was installed as a safety measure, to prevent people slipping and falling into a well below.

The Dangers of Flags

Cross of St George
I see that St George's Day last week was not able to pass without some Nannyism.

Liverpool Council (much "respected" by the residents of Liverpool) decided to remove St George's flags erected (can I say "erected"?) across the main road of Walton.

Seemingly the council was worried that they might fly off and obscure the windscreens of passing cars. Nanny's chums on the council sent out a workman in a truck with a cherry-picker to take all the flags down, accompanied by policemen in an unmarked van.

Nice to see that during times of economic crisis the council is still happy to waste taxpayers' money on a piffling health and safety "issue".

I am pleased to say that Nanny and the council got a sound kicking from the citizens of Liverpool, hundreds of whom inundated local radio stations with phone calls to complain.

The council was forced to reattach many of the flags.

Prats of The Week - Sunderland City Council

Prats of The WeekGosh already another organisation has stepped up to the plate, and made itself "worthy" for my prestigious "Prats of The Week" Award.

This time it goes to Sunderland City Council, as Robert Smithson found to his cost recently.

For why?

Mr Smithson wanted to fly the Cross of St George from his house, to welcome back his twin sons from the Coldstream Guards after completing their training.

Needless to say, some member of the public complained (one wonders how some people's minds work, that they have the time and energy to complain about trivia), and Sunderland City Council wrote to Mr Smithson threatening him with a fine of up to £2,500 for illegally flying the flag from his suburban house.

Seemingly he was breaking planning laws, because the flag was at the wrong angle (thus it was classified as advertising) according to the officials from the council.

Ermmm...why not just rehang it then?

Ironically, after some investigation it transpired that council officials had misinterpreted the rules and got it wrong.

The flag can stay!

Shiver Me Timbers!

Shiver Me Timbers!Oh dear on hearing about this story I really do wonder, yet again, why we bother to allow local councils to exist.

Have they nothing better to do with their time, and our council tax?

David Waterman, of Ashtead, has found out to his cost that Nanny's local council (Mole Valley) has got a veritable bee in its bonnet over the fact that he flew a Jolly Roger pirate flag in his garden for his daughter's 8th birthday party.

The flag, all 5ft by 3ft of it, was flown to enhance the pirate theme of his daughter's birthday.

Needless to say, Nanny's chums in Mole Valley want him to de-erect his pole and flag (can I say that?).

Oddly enough this is not the first time that Nanny has banned pirate flags, I cite the case last June whereby Stafford Borough Council did the same thing.

Anyhoo, this all blew up some months ago, Mr Waterman has received a letter from the council telling him to take it down; in response he has applied for advertising consent for the flag to be flown.

It seems that there is something of a dispute going on with some of his neighbours who don't like his kids playing outside, as such they complained to the council about the flag.

Another neighbour erected a pirate flag in support, but took it down after receiving a warning letter from the council.

He replaced it with a Union flag, as the law states anyone can fly a national flag or flags promoting a business at their home.

Mr Waterman is now considering registering a company called Jolly Roger at his house, so that he can keep the skull and crossbones.

A spokesman for Mole Valley council said it had not yet launched legal proceedings against Mr Waterman and would consider his application.

"We received a complaint about the flag flying outside Mr Waterman's house and are duty-bound to investigate complaints and enforce government regulations."

Herein lies the problem..."duty bound to enforce..."

Councils are not meant to act as state enforcers, they were once meant to "manage" and enhance their local catchment areas for the benefit of the local community as a whole.

It seems that their view of their "mission" has changed somewhat over the years.

As councils now see themselves as "enforcers", it inevitably places them on a direct collision course with their local residents and voters; this will only end in tears for the councils.

Nanny Bans Flags

Nanny Bans FlagsLast month, Nanny got her kerrr....nickers into something of a twist again over the contentious issue of flags.

One of Nanny's "respected" local councils, South Derbyshire District Council, decreed that Robert Hicking could not fly some flags from the roof of his house.

Isn't funny how Nanny uses local councils to enforce her petty rules and regulations?

Could it be that local councils are akin to dog shit (in the way it attracts flies), and that councils just attract petty minded interfering jobsworths?

Anyhoo, Mr Hicking was told that his flags were banned because they "could be seen as advertising".

What were these flags then?

Nothing more harmful than the flags of his local football team, Derby County.

Correct me if I am wrong, but during the world cup did not countless people fly the Cross of St George from various poles and erections?

Why are South Derbyshire District Council so sensitive about the flag of their own football team?

Mr Hicking now plans to fly the flag of St George and the Union Jack instead.

A spokeswoman for South Derbyshire District Council said:

"It's against the town and country planning

regulations to fly a flag that contains an advertisement

and a football club flag would be considered

to fall into that category
."

I bet no one actually asked a qualified lawyer about this, and that this phrase "would be considered" is being used as a catch all by some bureaucrat who has nothing better to do than to stop people living their lives.

Nanny and her local councils hate individuality.

Gasping For a Fag III

Gasping For a Fag IIIHeh heh:)

I see that the recent articles here about Nanny's smoking ban have produced some rather entertaining, and well observed, comments.

Keep it up!

In the spirit of sticking two fingers up to Nanny, and doing my best to thwart (now there's a word I haven't used for a while) her evil plans for subjugating us, I believe that I may have come up with a means of circumnavigating the smoking ban.

It seems that cruise ships are exempt from the smoking ban, thanks to a mixture of laws and customs.

Ships registered in Britain, such as the QE2, come under the Merchant Shipping Act which overrides the smoking regulations. Therefore on the QE2 you are still able to have a fag.

What has this got to do with circumnavigating the smoking ban?

I will tell you.

Pubs and clubs in England/Wales that still want to allow smoking should register themselves as cruise ships, that way they will be able to claim exemption from the ban.

Now, I hear you say that the UK would never allow a building to be registered as a ship flying the British flag.

Maybe so...but what of countries that offer flags of convenience for any old rust bucket?

I am sure that countries such as the Bahamas, Bermuda or Panama would be happy to welcome an English pub into their fleet.

May I suggest that you forward this suggestion on to every pub and club that you can think of?

It is most assuredly worth a shot.

Nanny Bans Pirates

Nanny Bans PiratesThirteen men on a dead man's chest,

Joh Hoh Hoh and a Bottle of Rum!

Or so the old saying goes.

Britain's wealth is based on the actions of pirates (state sponsored mercenaries who attacked Spanish galleons and colonies), such as Sir Walter Raleigh et al.

Yet now we see Nanny has decided to deny her own past, and ban pirates.

Out...bloody...rageous!

This is what six year old Morgan Smith (Capt Morgan was a pirate too!) found to his cost a wee while ago.

Morgan was getting ready for his sixth birthday party, and the hoisting of a pirate flag in the garden for the event (Morgan likes pirates).

The flag pole was duly erected (can I say erected on this site?), and the skull and cross bones run up the pole in the back garden. Morgan and his parents then waited for the day of the party, when his chums would turn up in eye patches wielding plastic cutlasses.

Unfortunately they reckoned without the intervention of the evil Stafford Borough Council.

For you see ladies and gentlemen, Stafford Borough Council is a local council; and we all know that local councils add zero value to the local community.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise to learn that Stafford Borough Council had something to say about the pirate flag.

Council officials branded the skull and crossbones flag "unneighbourly", and banned Morgan's parents Richard and Sharon from flying it.

It seems that the jobsworths in the council ordered Morgan's parents to apply for planning permission at a cost of £75 (have you noticed that local councils never miss a trick when it comes to screwing money out of their constituents?), and then they have to undertake an assessment of the 5ft by 4ft flag's "impact" on the surrounding area of Stone, Staffordshire.

As Morgan's dad said, citing the reality of the situation:

"It's not as though I'm building a huge extension

which will blight the neighbourhood.

It's a child's pirate flag
."

Egg...zact....lee!!!

It's a flag for a child's party for fark's sake, it's not a permanent erection!

I will repeat, for the benefit of the morons from Stafford Borough Council.

It's a flag for a child's party for fark's sake, it's not a permanent erection!

Can I say erection here???

Ironically the family have flown the Union Jack or a St George's flag on the 18ft-high flagstaff at their detached home without a problem. Yet some SOB neighbour, clearly with nothing else in his/her life to do, complained to the council about the Jolly Roger.

It's people like that, who report on every little thing to the state, that enable Nanny to remain in power.

Mr Smith said:

"When the lady from the council came to see me

she said that it was no problem flying

any of the other flags,

it was the Jolly Roger that was of concern
."

Councillor Richard Stevens (Lib Dem...that figures!) said the council had objected to the flag because:

"it was unneighbourly

and could open the doors for all kinds of flags
".

Errmmmm...ever heard of using common sense, councillor, and taking each case on its own merits?

Silly me, common sense, what was I thinking of?

He's a councillor for fark's sake!

A Stafford Borough Council spokesman, with no sense of irony or pomposity, said:

"A planning application has been made for a Jolly Roger flag

to be flown at a property in Stone.

The application is currently under review

and will include planning officers looking

at the impact the flag has on the area,

with the decision expected by the end of this month.

Legislation requires planning approval

before it can be flown from the flagpole
."

Do these people ever listen to, or read, what they say?

Don't they see how ridiculous they are?

Does this council have nothing better to do or spend the tax payers' money on???

Drop the council an email here, telling them what you think of them

- customerContactCentre@staffordbc.gov.uk

Drop councillor Steven a note here: prstevens@staffordbc.gov.uk

FYI, the Jolly Roger dates back to the 1700s when pirates would fly it to make their victims surrender readily.

I would also remind you, this being the 25th anniversary of the Falklands's victory, that the Jolly Roger was flown by H.M.S. Conqueror, the sub that sank the Belgrano, when she returned to Britain (as is the tradition of subs when they have successfully executed a kill).

Would Nanny have banned that too???

Fat Myths

Fat MythsNow that we are firmly in 2007, and being bombarded by both the media and Nanny into detoxing and taking diets, it is worth sitting back and considering exactly what constitutes being fat actually means.

Indeed Nanny is so keen on fat issues that she wants to set up a database to monitor every child in the country, including their diet.

Yet some health researchers argue that being overweight is actually beneficial: it's the dieting that kills.

In Septicland, the land that gave us WMD in Iraq, no less a person that the US surgeon general has claimed that obesity is "a greater threat than weapons of mass destruction".

Errmmm...is anyone buying that hyperbole?

Nanny needless to say, as she follows all things American, is eager to jump on the bandwagon. Nanny wants to introduce a £224M "Children's Index".

What the fark is a "Children's Index" then Ken?

I will tell you...

A "Children's Index" is a database of every child in the country, that will chart progress from birth to adulthood and will flag up "concerns" about each child's development.

Two "flags" on a child's record will trigger an official investigation into his or her family.

Interestingly Nanny's Information Commissioner, in a report issued in November, is very critical of the scheme.

Quote:

"Government policy proposes treating all parents

as if they cannot be trusted to bring up their children
."

Seemingly, one of the proposed danger signs on the Children's Index would be if the child were not eating the Nanny approved amount of fruit and vegetables each day.

Yet there is no scientific evidence to support the fat myths propgated by the media, Nanny and the diet food industry.
  • The recently published Health Survey for England, 2004 shows no significant increase in the weight of children in recent years. The Department of Health report found that from 1995 to 2003 there was only a one-pound increase in children's average weight.

  • The Thousand Families Study found little connection between overweight children and adult obesity. In the study, four out of five obese people became obese as adults, not as children.

  • In the US it is estimated that 10% of high school pupils suffer from eating disorders, brought about by the incessant media message that slim is good and fat is bad.

  • In 2004, a World Health Organisation study of British pupils found that overweight children ate sweets less frequently than normal weight children did. Children who ate larger amounts of junk food actually had less chance of being overweight.

  • In America there was a rapid increase in the number of overweight people in the early years of this decade. However, that is because the goal posts were moved! The classification of what was "overweight" was reduced from those with a body mass index of 27, to those of 25.

  • In 2005 a US Centres for Disease Control study found the lowest death rates among overweight people.

  • A 2004 Harvard University study examined 14,000 children, and found that junk food did not lead to obesity.

  • 95% of dieters are fatter five years after their diet then when they started to trim.

  • The Iowa Women's Health Study and the American Cancer Society study found that weight loss was associated with higher rates of mortality.
The conclusion to be drawn from the above is obvious; have it large in 2007, and get well stuffed!

Nanny Bans George

Nanny Bans George
Poor old Saint George, I don't know what he has done to Nanny but she certainly doesn't like him.

Nanny's chums in the rapidly declining and decaying Church of England are considering banning him, on the grounds that his image is too warlike and may offend Muslims.

Some of Nanny's clergy have started a campaign to replace George with St Alban, a Christian martyr in Roman Britain.

How very inspiring!

Anyone ever heard of Alban?

The proposal has been put forward by the Rev Philip Chester, vicar of St Matthew's, Westminster, he is under the impression that the use of St George as patron saint is 'dotty'.

If St Alban replaced St George, the red cross on a white background would have to be replaced as England's flag by Alban's symbol, a diagonal yellow cross on a blue background.

Hang on a minute, isn't that Scotland's flag?

What a waste of time and energy. Hardly surprising that the Church of England is in terminal decline.

Big Brother

Big Brother
1984 was not just the pigment (yes I know!...just me amusing myself with a play on words) of George Orwell's imagination, it seems to be becoming reality.

Nanny has decided to formalise the surveillance of all children, including information on whether they eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

The new Big Brother monitoring system comes in the form of a £224M database, which will track all 12 million children in England and Wales from birth.

Nanny expects that the system will go live within two years; given how crappy Nanny is at implementing IT systems, we can safely assume that this deadline will slip somewhat!

The system will require doctors, schools and the police to alert Nanny about a wide range of "concerns". Two warning flags on a child's record could start an investigation.

There will also be a system of targets and performance indicators for children's development. Children's services have been told to work together to make sure that targets are met.

God only knows what they are!

Dr Eileen Munro, of the LSE, is not happy and notes that if a child failed to make progress towards state targets, detailed information would be gathered. That would include subjective judgements such as "Is the parent providing a positive role model?", as well as sensitive information such as a parent's mental health.

Dr Munro said:

"They include consuming five portions of fruit and veg a day,

which I am baffled how they will measure.

The country is moving from

'parents are free to bring children up as they think best

as long as they are not abusive or neglectful'

to a more coercive

'parents must bring children up to conform

to the state's views of what is best
'."

Dr Munro makes a very good, and indeed obvious point, how the hell do you measure if children are eating 5 portions of fruit and veg?

Bowel exams maybe?

The Children Act 2004 gave the Government the powers to create the database.

Arch, the children's rights organisation, put it succinctly:

"Government databases have a dreadful record."

Nanny's lackeys in the Department for Education and Skills said:

"Parents and young people will be able to ask to see their data

and make amendments

and will retain full rights under the Data Protection Act
."

By then it will be too late, their child will have been carted off by Nanny's child catchers.

Flag Off

Flag OffOh dear, Nanny is getting worked up by the flag of St George again. This time Nanny's minions in Wales are on the war path.

Nanny's best chum, the deputy chief constable of North Wales Police Clive Wolfendale is having a hissy fit over the flag. He said "incessant" flag-waving in Wales during the World Cup could lead to racism and violence.

Wolfendale said:

"I'm an Englishman and I'll be supporting England during the World Cup campaign

and if I was at the game or in and around the stadium

there's a fair chance I might be waving the flag.

But I think there comes a point when weeks before the tournament

the incessant use of these symbols is a bit in your face

and I just wish people would sometimes reflect

on the impact that's having on others
."

He added:

"There's no doubt about it that this can be the precursor to behaviour

which is much worse than flag waving

it's violence,

it's racism,

it's hooliganism of the very worse kind
."

Alyn and Deeside Mark Tami MPs said that the remarks risk creating a problem "that isn't actually there".

Clwyd West MP David Jones said Wolfendale's comments were "laughable".

He added:

"I think it's pretty innocuous (for fans) to display their flag from the little flagpoles on their cars if they want to do that.

I can't believe that the people of Wales are so intolerant

of a few English football fans

that they would be incited to violence

I think he's completely barking up the wrong tree.

Frankly, flying a little flag on your way to Colwyn Bay for the day is,

I don't think, going to spark any violence

I think he's completely misguided
."

As ever with Nanny, she concentrates on issues that are irrelevant whilst ignoring the real problems.

Maybe Nanny should concentrate on catching real criminals instead?

Nanny Saves The Dragon

Nanny Saves The DragonQuite how daft Nanny makes herself look at times never ceases to amaze me. Although St George's Day was back in April, this particular Nanny St George's Day story only surfaced recently.

Angie Sayer, landlady of the New Inn in Wedmore Somerset, got into a spot of bother with Nanny's Dragon protection squad.

Her crime?

On St George's Day she held an archery competition, in which she used the Welsh flag as the target.

The Welsh flag has a dragon at the centre, and the logic being that since St George killed the dragon a spot of dragon hunting on St George's Day would be a good idea.

Mrs Sayer was forgetting one thing, Nanny's ever watchful Dragon Protection Squad were in the area. Seemingly one of Angie's dafter patrons thought that it would be "amusing" to report the matter to the police, for a "laugh".

Anyhoo, Nanny's police force decided that this competition constituted an incitement to commit racial hater and paid Angie a visit.

She was interviewed for two hours by Nanny's thought police, who concluded that they would not be taking any further action.

No matter, the damage is done; the fear of the State paying "visit" to "discuss" thought crimes has now been well and truly planted in those connected with this story, and anyone who has read about it.

I wonder if this is the sort of "community action against yobbery" that John Reid had in mind?

Newsflash From The Fuehrer Bunker

Newsflash From The Fuehrer Bunker
Bliary Poppins has released the following urgent newsflash.

It has come to my attention that there has been speculation over the news that I am to fly the Flag of St George over the Number 10 Fuehrer Bunker, on England World Cup match days.

People have speculated that this is a sign that I fully support the concept of English patriotism, even though I spend most of my time outside of the UK, and is a deliberate slight to those who practice political correctness.

I must inform you now, nothing could be further from the truth.

The sole reason that the flag will be flown is to annoy the grumpy old Scottish git who lives next door.

Heil the Pope!

Nanny Bans St George

Nanny Bans St George
Following on from yesterday's article about Nanny banning a two year old from wearing an England T shirt, it seems that Nanny has gone into overdrive this summer in regard of her hatred of St George and his flag.

Throughout the land, Nanny's trolls have been working hard to eliminate the flag of St George.

Why is that?

Many reasons have been cited:
  • Nanny's dislike of the English

  • Nanny's dislike of patriotism

  • Nanny's fear of extremist Muslims, eg Anjem Choudary, a former leader of the Islamic extremist group Al-Muhajiroun, has claimed:

"The cross does represent Christianity and for Muslims it also represents a crusader history of occupation and murder."
Anyhoo, whatever her reason, Nanny is busy banning St George:
  • Cable company NTL have ordered their van drivers and subcontractors to remove their flags in case they offend Muslims.

    Quote:

"We work in many multicultural areas and in different countries within Britain so we want to maintain a professional image and a sense of impartiality."

    Twats!

We live and work in Britain, therefore we are perfectly entitled to wave our own country's flag.

  • Bosses at Heathrow's Terminal 5 have banned construction workers from flying the flag, health and safety issues there!

  • Taxi drivers in Blackpool are banned from flag flying and from wearing England T shirts, lest they upset foreign visitors.

  • Taxi drivers in Cheltenham are banned from flag flying, seemingly the council believe that they will fall off and cause an accident. The police want to ban all motorists from flag flying, lest they frighten the horses (yes that really is what they said!).

  • Fireman in Barking cannot fly the flag at their station, even though the local Mosque has said it is fine with them.
Nanny is totally overeacting to this harmless practice, she should devote her time to more important issues.

Nanny's Man of Straw

Nanny's Man of Straw
Nanny's man of Straw, Jack, waded into the "cartoon debate" on Friday; by attacking the European papers who printed the offending cartoons.

He said:

"I believe that the republication of these cartoons has been unnecessary, it has been insensitive, it has been disrespectful and it has been wrong.

There are taboos in every religion. We have to be very careful about showing the proper respect in this situation
."

A cynic might suggest that his concerns about causing offence may be down to the fact there is a large Muslim community in his constituency.

There are several points that the man of Straw should remember:

1 The cartoons were published by Western media organisations in Western countries. The state does not control the media in the West.

2 We, and the rest of Europe, are not Muslim nations.

3 Muslim media organisations regularly print anti Semitic cartoons.

4 The placards being brandished by the radicals in the London demonstrations called for a repeat of 7/7, that is incitement to murder is it not?

Isn't that a crime in this country?

5 The Western media regularly pillories other religions, which no doubt annoys/offends some of the more fundamental followers of those religions, why should Islam be a sacred cow?

6 The cartoons are now easily accessible on line, does that mean that all ISP's and net based companies are also going to be subject to this campaign of abuse and intimidation?

7 The cartoons were also published in Lebanon.

8 Many in the West may well object to the offensive and derogatory use of the word "infidel" by some Muslims to describe "non believers", yet they do not take to the streets and riot.

9 An Iranian newspaper has launched a competition for cartoonists to submit cartoons about the Holocaust. However, I doubt that (as immature and as pathetic as the competition may be) there will be mass protests by non Muslims in the streets or that the Iranian Embassies in Europe will be attacked.

10 In 2001 an episode of South Park featured an animated all singing, all dancing Mohammed. Why were there no large scale protests then?

11 Whilst it is reasonable to believe that there are piles of British, American and Israeli flags ready to burn in the Middle East; I find it unlikely that there is a such a ready stock of Danish and Norwegian flags.

The fact that the protesters have managed to lay their hands on such a large number of flags, indicates that the "protests" are being co-ordinated and orchestrated by "higher" authorities.

Prat Of The Week

Prat of The WeekThis week's Prat of The Week Award goes to one of Nanny's henchmen, Terry White, from the Labour Communications Unit.

White has decreed, in an email to Allan Murray a member of the public, that sports fans who wave the flag of Saint George are racist.

This follows on from a comment made by an ex-minister, Gisela Stuart (German born), who claimed that the rise of Englishness is a threat to democracy.

Mr Murray had written to Nanny saying:

"Why is it that as a party you dislike the English so much?

I am fed up to the back teeth with Labour's endless dumbing down of the English.

The Labour Party are trying to wipe England off the UK map
."

White responded in a rant worthy of Nanny herself:

"England, as opposed to Britain, has an unfortunate history around the world and within the British Isles and please do not say that it is all past.

It is a fact that the right and extreme right in Britain cloak themselves in the English flag, the cross of St George and claim to be the true representatives of the English.

Wherever there is hooligan behaviour, usually linked to extreme right-wing political groups eg, at football matches here and abroad, it is the flag of St George that is displayed
."

Utter....wait for it....bollocks!

Nanny is using the tired old argument that we should be guilty for our past, and to atone we must never mention our nationality again (except by way of shame).

Piffle and balderdash!

You can no more undo your past, than you can disinvent the wheel.

Nanny's Smooth Talking Bar StewardYet Nanny is more than happy to encourage "racial awareness", and a yearning for separate identities, by encouraging devolution in Scotland and Wales. I won't even begin to discuss the Smooth Talking Bar Steward's shambolic attempt at a Northern Regional Assembly!

When you start to unpick the fabric of a United Kingdom, that took many centuries of bloodshed and toil to unite, you will get a backlash.

Nanny has realised that she may have spoken out of turn here, and has done what comes naturally to her; she has disowned White. A Labour spokesman said:

"We cannot condone these comments and they in no way represent the views of the Party. We apologise unreservedly for any offence caused."

Too late, you have exposed your warped thinking to the world; now suffer the consequences.
