Nanny Bans Crumpet

Nanny Bans Crumpet
Ooh eeerrr missus!

Nanny has banned crumpet!

That at least is what happened to Michelina Roy, 70, who fell foul of Nanny's crumpet police when she tried to feed the pigeons in Green Park a while ago.

Ms Roy was throwing crumpets to the pigeons, when she was approached by two council officials and fined £75 for her trouble.

Now the fine would be all very well if she had left a great big pile of crumpets littering the place. However, within seconds of the crumpets being tossed (can I say tossed?) they had been wolfed down by the pigeons.

Note, the fine was for littering it was not for feeding the pigeons; indeed she has been feeding the pigeons (bread) there for years.

Seemingly the council are now "investigating" the matter.

Kerching!!!

Ken, you may say tossed if you are Jacqui Smith's husband. Indeed you may toss away at your leisure, whilst your fat arse is parked on a taxpayer supplied sofa (John Lewis list) and your exposed nether regions are kept nice and warm from the antique fireplace and coal - again taxpayer funded.

  2. If she is to be fined for littering, then shouldn't the pigeons be paid for tidying up the litter, or is this simply another bird-brained idea?

The Council are numpties, yes - but you can't forget the role of the individual numpty "officials" themselves.

'I was only following orders' and 'I was only doing my job' are cries that echo through history.

The council officials in question obviously have no problem with a job description that says "fine old ladies for feeding birds in the park". What about the next, tiny, step - "shout at and intimidate old ladies who feed the birds in the park"? What about the tiny little step after that one, the one where their job description says "shout at, intimidate and slap around a bit any old lady caught feeding birds in the park"?

There has to be a limit to what intelligent, decent, people will do for money and the line has obviously moved in recent years to the point where £75 of your pension for feeding birds is a-ok by both t'Council and these individual council employees. That says a heck of a lot about their personal ethics and morals.

You can't just do a (stupid, amoral, indecent) job and wash your hands of responsibility for what you are doing. That's just spineless.

Then the next step, 'imprison old ladies who feed birds in the park'(for their own protection, of course) followed by the next step, 'shoot old ladies who feed birds in the park' followed by "the final solution",
'Shoot old ladies, and anyone else we don't like, including all those who protest at our behaviour.'

What ethics and morals? Neither the councils nor the jobsworths whom they employ have any of either: t*****s the lot of them!

There seems to be an awfully large quantity of cash swilling about in the UK as a result of fines....Kerching.

Today, Ofcom fined the BBC a record £150,000. So, this is a publicly funded quango, fining another publicly funded quango....In effect, I have fined myself and as a result of the said fine, deprived myself of funding for new TV programmes so I guess I'll have to put up with PC biased news and repeats of cheap shows....What a crazy world the UK has become!!

Fight the uuber-bitch Nanny with her own rules.

First thing, is refuse to co-operate with the pair of jobsworth twits. "Piss off. I'm not giving you my name." Then start screaming bloody murder and have someone call the (useless) Police.

Finally take the citation to court and say, "Where is the evidence?"

Unfortunately a great many of these bossyboots 'public servants' aren't intelligent decent people.

    Agreed and seconded wholeheartedly, Anticant.

The application of independent thought seems to have been all but eradicated. Witness the "apology" I've just watched one F1 Hamilton make for lying: he says he said what he said because he was told to and is used to doing what he's told by his team managers!

Once upon a time there would often (usually) have been a little voice in someone's head in those circumstances that would whisper: "Yes, you're being told to say this but it's wrong, so do what you know is right and tell the truth instead".

    Bring back backbones!

Get bonesless chickens out of little Hitler uniforms, party politics and the public eye!

Come the revolution, when I am OmniMinister Supreme ... anything without a spine shall be deemed as "fit for the barbecue" ...

These jobsworths ARE spineless, except, of course, in enforcing Nanny's rules by intimidating and robbing old ladies. i wonder whether they would have been so brave if the person fedding the birds had been a 6ft plus thug covered in tattoos?

Leave me out of this, please, Lord of Atlantis Sir/Ma'am - I haven't hit anyone for weeks. Well, almost no-one and certainly nobody who wasn't asking for it anyway.

Actually, it's a damned good thought. Urban UK Adventure holidays: a week spent feeding wild birds in the park, photographing policemen and public buildings, driving at 31mph in a fluffed up zone, smoking (regular) tobacco in a pub while drinking alcohol, parking in a "Mutha an' Chile" space in Sainsbury's. Last holidaymaker standing gets tasered anyway. Adrenalin seekers would pay a fortune for that sort of thing.

"Advanced" human sports junkies could then go on to weeks in the Cotswolds walking up to policemen and confessing to thinking for themselves or a fortnight on a Scottish island evading the authorities while simultaneously applying common sense.

Lord of A - you may just have invented a whole new extreme sports business! This could become the next mainstay of the British economy.

If I may emulate Ken Frost on Nanny Knows Best, I hereby award my Solemn Noodle of the Year prize to Plymouth's Assistant Chief Constable Paul Netherton who, when asked to clarify the nature of material seized in the recent "terrorist" arrests, sagely observed that

"It's political, it relates to political organisations, it's not extreme but it's a different political view. It leads to motives and things like that."

    Whoever would have thought it?

So, at last they have admitted it: we are now no longer a democracy, but a police state. Hitler/Stalin wouldhave been so proud!

    Whoever would have thought it?
