Un Farking Believable!

wtf
Many thanks to all of you yesterday who wrote in with suggestions as to what the "3000" story was about.

Sadly, I am still at a loss as to what I was going to write about.

Could it be senility kicking in?

Anyhoo, moving on, I read that we live in the age of miracles where limbs grow back as if by magic.

That at least is the view of Nanny's chums from Nottinghampshire County Council, as Lance Corporal Johno Lee has discovered to his cost.

Lance Corporal Lee lost one of his legs in Afghanistan in 2008, trying bravely on the instructions of our "beloved" government to bring a country still in the Middle Ages into the 21st century.

For reasons best known to the council they have denied him a disabled parking badge three times, as such he has clocked up £800 in fines for parking in disabled bays in his home town of Newark.

Seemingly the council are of the view that Lane Corporal Lee is "young", and "may get better".

Yes, they really did say that!

I know the Pope is coming and all that, but even his presence will not gestate the regrowing of a limb.

Now the media are crawling all over the case the council's Service Director, Paul McKay, said:

"We are looking into the matter and have arranged for a member of staff to meet Mr Lee to review the situation. We will urgently assess whether he meets the criteria for a disabled parking badge as laid down by the Department of Transport."

Call me simple, but either he has two legs or he doesn't?

A country fit for heroes?! I wonder whether these intransigent jobsworths would have been as callous if Lance Corporal Johno Lee had been related to the council's CEO? What a pathetic bunch of heartless tossers! I bet the only reason that they are 'reviewing the situation' is because of the adverse publicity they have deservedly attracted. This case does beg the question as to how serious the injury must be to qualify for a disabled parking badge in their area? In view of their'services', Ken, I should like to nominate them as a contender for a 'prat of the year' award!

Double-plus outrageous considering the number of drivers using borrowed or 'shopped blue badges...

Sadly, Nanny's war on the disabled is being carried on by local councils too.
I am a blue badge holder and have been for many years; it has to be renewed every three years. At my last renewl, I was turned down because I was not recieving the correct benefit.....I appealed on the basis that my condition had not changed, nor would it and that I did not wish to go through the process of claiming a benefit due to the intrusive nature of the forms etc.
I was "examined" by an occupational Therapist, at the council's offices, to see the limitations I had and she confirmed I was disabled enough to more than qualify for the concession. She told me that many people tried it on to save money on car parking and congestion charges which the blue badge exempts one from.....This policy was a diktat from central Nanny.

In the 1930s, the Jews were public enemy number one; they were branded as being responsible for all the country's ills in Hitler's Germany. Today in the UK, it is the disabled that are public enemy number one and to blame for all our nation's ills.
We see a constant stream of news stories of benefit cheats fiddling the disability system which then sets in the minds of people that every disabled person is trying it on. The DWP release information and films to the media and the media gleefully take part in the hate campaign.

A society can be judged by how it treats its elderly and disabled members and on that basis, our society is not very good at all.

I iterate my comment (31 Aug) under 'Open Mike'-

"Alternative explanations" - where Nanny's first attempt at saying why some particularly STOOPID thing was done fails to impress.

Me thinks it is on the basis of 'misused' blue badges that councils are clamping down on awarding them. Councils are stupid enough to follow the media and, thereby, fail in their duty to 'care' for those they should be caring for.

This incident is appalling and highlights the total banality of giving local councils anymore power - in fact they should be closed down
