Nanny Bans Union Jack

I am saddened to see that Holme Pierrepont and Gamston Parish Council have succumbed to complaints from residents about the flying of the Union Jack on the village green.

The flag was flown to celebrate the royal wedding, and has been left permanently in situ more less ever since.

However, some residents have complained and the council now only want to fly it on special occasions.

John Harbury-Carlisle, of Holme Pierrepont and Gamston Parish Council, has threatened to resign from the council if the flag is removed.

The problem here is that, owing to political weakness and pc policies around the country, we as a nation have allowed organisations such as the BNP to highjack the flag for their own nefarious ends.

It is apparent that many people are ashamed to be associated with the flag.

This is wrong!

The only way to overcome this, is to reclaim the flag.

Hence it should be flown by councils etc, and not hidden away.

I am NOT a member of the BNP or any other extremist group, either right wing or left wing. But, as an Englishman, and proud of the PRIVILEGE to be such, I am also NOT ashamed to be associated with the Union Jack, nor the flag of St George. However, I AM very much ASHAMED and DISGUSTED by the epidemic of political correctness that has swept across the country in the last few years, imposed upon a supine parliament (with a few honourable exceptions) and, in general, an equally apathetic British public.

  2. My Lord,

I fully agree with your comment.

I watched the Al-Jabeeba clip of the news report; a guy of Afro-Caribbean origin said he felt sad to advise his friends when they visit that the village was not the HQ of The BNP and how would we feel if he flew a flag from the Caribbean; well mate, the Union Flag is the national flag of the UK and not the emblem of the BNP and you are in the UK and should expect to see the National Flag being flown. I could not imagine our cousins over the pond allowing such PC stupidity.
They also interviewed an indigenous local and she was clearly a victim of our PC education system and could hardly string a coherent sentence together.
Why is nanny teaching her people to hate themselves and hate their culture and history?

Fly it anyway. It'd be a spectacular own goal for anyone to take a citizen to court for flying our own flag.

I don’t think that the main concern is the BNP hijacking the nation’s flag, but rather how they were allowed to do it in the first place.

Drive through any other country and you will see their national flag everywhere. Government buildings, police stations, hospitals, libraries, etc. In America I believe that all teaching institutions also fly the flag, and I also understand that all school kids are given a framed photo of the flag on their first day at school.

For decades Britain has been fiercely unpatriotic towards the flag, the BNP have picked up on this fact and perhaps they are now using it as a symbol of how Britain should be.

And no, I do not support the BNP.

  5. A pub that I pass still has up all the union flag bunting up from the wedding. It's all now battered and unloved, and a total mess! Am I allowed to ask for that to be brought down??

Only two people complained originally. The council voted without the usual number of members.

Democracy: pass a vote with voters missing & cause a national scandal.

    It isn't democracy is it?
