Nanny's Children

Leana Hosea speaks to Croydon looters on @bbcworldservice (mp3)

These "ladies" from Croydon, interviewed by the BBC, are most surely the children of the Nanny state:

- They have no sense of personal responsibility

- They are selfish and self centred

- They are ignorant

- They expect things to be handed to them on a plate

- They have an inflated sense of "entitlement"

- They believe that they deserve "respect", yet will not do anything to earn respect

- They are morons

- They have no ambition, other than to fill their lives with worthless "consumer totems"

- They have no empathy for anyone around them

- They have no sense of responsibility

- They blame others for their own failings

They are truly Nanny's children!

A shopkeeper from Croydon, who lost everything, was interviewed and said that he has worked 7 days a week 14 hours a day for many years. He rang the police 3 times, whilst his shop was being attacked, and was told that he shouldn't waste police time.

Nanny stood by and allowed the mob to destroy everything that he has worked for.

The riots have, ironically, highlighted one thing; the fundamental failure of our society, where the state allows a mob to destroy the businesses and homes of the law abiding majority who work hard and pay taxes.

  1. Too much emphasis put on rights and not enough on responsibilities.

What strikes me is this; those that have the greatest sense of entitlement, so often are those that have put the least in.

I feel sorry for those good people that have lost their businesses and livlihoods whilst the police have stood and watched but, I do feel that Nanny, at both Westminster and Brussels level, have effectively tied the hands of our police through political correctness and Nanny's leftist agenda. The police are afraid to go in hard and fast incase they're then prosecuted for being heavy handed or picking on a group based on colour or religion.

A sign of maturity is self control, self regulation and the ability to defer gratification.

Something Nanny doesnt teach her children well.

Your assessment of the vermin involved in this rioting and looting is spot on, Ken! However, as abominable as this behavior is, I find the police response you describe as even more appalling! Indeed, if this is true,I would suggest that the police are clearly guilty of dereliction of duty!

Tonk. said... "Too much emphasis put on rights and not enough on responsibilities."

Spot on! We have the human rights act and the European court of human rights to thank for that!

Tonk also said..."What strikes me is this; those that have the greatest sense of entitlement, so often are those that have put the least in."

Very true! They think the world owes them not just a living,. but a very high standard of living and, if they want something they do not possess or cannot afford, they are perfectly entitled to steal it.

Also spot on. This says a lot about the quality of the
'leadership' of the police. At one time, they were recruited from very experienced officers who worked right up through the ranks. These days they are far more likely to be 'fast tracked' university graduates, who wouldn't know one end of a truncheon from the other. What we need is the likes of DCI Gene Hunt or Frank Burnside in charge; they'd put the fear of God up these scum and all other criminals and yobs too!

Er, she doesn't teach this at all! These days, education is 'child centred' which, as far as I can see, means they can do what they like without fear of any kind of punishment, "as they must be allowed to express themselves."
In my opinion, this left wing, politically correct, trendy philosophy is a load of bovine excrement!

  4. The failings of our lefty led society have indeed become graphically apparent over the last couple of days.
Those people that were starting school as Tony Blair was coming to power are the ones that are now out burning and looting others property.
I cant see anything changing though. The quest is already on to create excuses for these people, to blame everyone but themselves.

There is also a Tory MP saying we should not be sending the rioters to jail. I plan on doing a peice on that at my gaff later on.

What "lefty" society? Nothing lefty about society since 1979. Bliar and BlueLabour were if anything more right wing than thatcher (spit). I'm a product of the 1950s so have had experience of genuine socialism.

........and wahat about the culprits that turn out to be preofessionals, including such as lawyers? I doubt they were born in 1997. No, they are Thatcherjugenden, brought up during the era when that dreadful woman was not only wrecking the UK's industrial base, destroying jobs in the process, but imposing her "morality" of greed and selfishness. "There's no such thing as society" - well, now we are reaping the crop Thatcher sowed.

A recurrent theme during this morning's vox pops was how the banksters not only got away with vastly more serious criminality but now reward themselves with huge bonuses out of our money that was used to rescue them from the results of their criminal activties. One youth asked whether there was any difference between robbing a £500 TV and an MP defrauding the taxpayer of £500. I find that difficult to argue with.

Needless to say I abhor the riots but have had a hunch that civil unrest was sooner or later going to break out as a result of the crash resulting from the banksters' activities and the Coalition's vicious fiscal policies aimed at the less well-off. I suspect the ruling elite knew what was coming as UK police forces have between them bought some 5,000 machine guns - very likely because they know full well that our troops would refuse to fire on UK civilians. The Met's recent record convinces me that certain police officers would have no such qualms.

  7. DTW - I take you dislike Thatcher. Our society is very left and has been since the New Labour. You may be refering to some definition of solialism that I was not around to see, I don't know, but Labour were not more right wing than Thatcher.

The bankers are not to blame for all of societies ills either. We should never have bailed them out. As private businesses they were free to go to the wall if they managed things badly.

However, as private businesses, if they want to pay themselves big bonuses when the money is coming in they are free to do that too.

Blaming the bankers has become the tired excuse trotted out to explain away all our ills. Socialism, victimhood, entitlement and the one size fits all philosophy are the problems we need to deal with.

"One youth asked whether there was any difference between robbing a £500 TV and an MP defrauding the taxpayer of £500."

No, they are both criminal behaviour. Two wrongs and all that?

Too right. My area (Merseyside) suffered badly from her rabid obsession to destroy trade unionism at the expense of our industrial base.

Yes - the true Socialism of the mid-20th Century which I did experience. I became politically aware during the 1960s.

We shouldn't have bailed them out. We should have nationalised retail banking to safeguard ordinary depositors and let the casino bankers go to the wall and suffer the consequences.

    Bucko said:

They should pay off their enormous debts to the taxpayer before awarding themselves bonuses. If we had the bail-out money back from the banksters there wuold be less need for the austerity measures that are fuelling civil unrest.

Bear in mind that during my 60+ years on this planet I've seen Governments come and go, different political credos come and go. I long ago formed the opinion that the real rot started back in 1979 when Thatcher came to power. I was one of the many that breathed a sigh of relief when Thatcher was rightfully toppled but badly disappointed when Major and subsequently Bliar did nothing to reverse the damage done by Thatcher's crazy moneterism. They also continued selling off what was left of the family silver to greedy moneymen.

My political stance? I was psychologically tested back in the 1960s when I came out as a gnat's testicle left of centre. A similar test 45 years later revealed no change - I'm still very slightly left of centre. Hardly a raving Socialist! I remember what I consider caring Conservatism to be that displayed by the Governments of Harold Macmillan ('57-'63), Douglas Home ('63-64) then Ted Teeth ('70-'74). Proper Labour Governments where those of old gravel-voice Harold Wilson ('64-70). HW returned as PM with Labour's return to power in '74 when James Callaghan took over until '79. The financial crises of the 1970s were not the fault of either Tory or labour governments but down to the 1973 oil crisis which quadrupled the price of crude. In fact I've still got my petrol rationing books that were issued at the time just in case. These were left over from WW2 so if I could find them they are probably worth quite a bit!

The problem nowadays is that the UK is not a democracy but a corporate state ruled from boardrooms. Our politicians are mearely sock puppets controlled by immensly wealthy and powerful vested interests. It really matters not a jot for whom one votes or whatever the colour of the subsequent government. The ruling elite will carry on regardless behind the scenes. I suggest this is a major driver behind the undercurrent of resentment that has now burst into flames.

The solution? Heaven knows. However Wester culture is showing all the symptoms of terminal decadence. I don't see it lasting much longer.

  10. Of course those that work hard and pay all the taxes that the 'takers' recieve actually only have one role to play in todays so-called 'society' and that's to PAY TAX, and then shut up.

This society is indeed left wing controlled even now. State control of how you think, how you speak how to bring up your children, what to put in your dustbin etc to the point of nauseau. That is left wing and that is what we have. By left wing I mean socialisim in all its forms and that includes alleged 'right wing' groups don't forget the socialisam in national socialisim.
