Nanny's Drought

You remember that a week or so ago that Nanny and the water companies were all telling us that we were officially in a drought, and that the use of hosepipes was banned (except for the Olympics and various football matches etc)?

Well here we are, a couple of weeks forward in time, and Nanny's Environment Agency is now warning householders in many areas that their homes are at risk from flooding due to the recent heavy rain.

In fact Nanny is offering householders in the "at risk" areas free sandbags to build barriers around their properties

The spate of torrential rain has put Britain on course for the wettest April on record, and over 40 flood warnings have been issued.

That'll be global warming then!

Of course the "drought" would be less severe if the water companies (eg Thames Water) fixed their leaking pipe network!

Yes Ken, it is the wettest drought I've ever known!

The State's broadcaster, Al Ja-Beeba were still trying to save face last night showing how low the reservoirs still were however, living near to the Thames, I know that the peak river level comes a few days after the rain as it takes time to seep through the ground and into the rivers. I wonder if Al Ja-Beeba will report again from those same locations once the rain has got into the reservoirs? I doubt it.

A few years ago, I was told by the water regulator that un-metered supplies subsidize metered supplies. This is because there were few metered supplies and the cost would be far too unattractive if they had to pay the going rate. They stated that, once more homes becamse metered, so the subsidy would be unjustifiable and thus, those opting for a metered supply, would see their bills leap upwards.

The water companies have always wanted everyone to be metered and have used the new false religion as a way to fulfil that dream. Sadly, our daft government, who too are apostles of the new false religion, have given them the go ahead.

I predict, once water supplies are all metered, bills will rise and some will become water poor, just as many are fuel poor.
I also prdict that we will see a rise in third world type diseases, as people opt to save water and not to flush toilets, wash themselves nor keep their homes clean, in a bid to save money.

I think the irony Gods have been working hard and have a great sense of humour.
