On Your Feet!
On Your Feet Britain says that office work is bad for you, sitting for long periods at work is linked to a host of health problems, which are not undone by working out in the gym.
It goes on to say that things were a lot better 100 years ago.
Thus I suggest that we all go down the mines or into the cotton mills, and return to a way of life and work that was much "healthier"!

Great! Let's get those bloody children back up the chimney: that'll keep them off of Facebook and Twitter etc:-)
ReplyDeleteI walk or bike back and forth to work each day: twice = 3 miles. If I sit on my bum when I get there (which I don't as I'm a Primary teacher) so what; another of Nanny's pronouncements stated that 150 mins of physical activity a week was quite sufficient: my walking and biking takes at least an hour a day. Mind you, an old friend of mine who died at the tender age of 99 spent the last 50 years of his life either sitting in a chair, sitting in a car, or sitting on a tractor seat, ploughing - he lived, largely, on fish and seabirds boiled in milk, raw turnips and potatoes, bread and dripping . . . so, as his ghost would say; "Those swack bastards can bile their heids".
ReplyDeleteRichmond Mathewson.
Let us enter the world of statistics. For instance, +1M votes for JC. This was put into context by a mouthpiece as "15M didn't vote" therefore (blah) against.
ReplyDeleteComplete BS. 15M didn't vote because they "did not give a shit", rather than voting against.
..and of course I pasted the above into the wrong browser window. I better go read the article to make up!
Delete"45% of women and 37% of men spend less than 30 minutes a day up on their feet at work"
Shock horror. In the next installment.. 'swimmers are more prone to wrinkly skin disease' ;-)
"More than half regularly eat their lunch at their desk"
Ignoring the fact they have to walk somewhere to fetch it.
"78% office workers felt they spent too much time sitting down"
'22% had enough brains to stand up periodically'
"Nearly two-thirds were worried sitting at work was having a negative impact on their health"
Q: are you worried pizza might be fattening?
A: (plonk statistics into excel & ignore biased question)
I really must stop looking at the news. All it does is wind me up!
