A Generation of Ignoramuses

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

In a poll of 1,000 people conducted by the RAF Benevolent Fund one in ten 18 to 24-year-olds thought the Battle took place last year, with the same number thinking it was a Viking attack when presented with multiple choice answers.

  1. Sadly, Nanny is more concerned about teaching children to be Good Dogs and to come when she whistles.
My own grandchildren seem to be very well informed about the state's new false religion of climate change and how bad (sic) our nation has been in the past but, they know little about our history, mathematics nor how to speak and write English.

If I were a youngster again, I would work my balls off to provide my children with a good quality, private education and keep them well away from Nanny's indoctrination system.

climate change - anthropogenic and A Bad Thing

healthy lifestyle choices - smoking, drinking, sugar, salt, red meat are Bad and you will die a premature and slow and painful death if you indulge.

The British Isles - as an anachronism from the period of imperialism, of which White British should be ashamed it is now banned. Belongs to the era of standing when an adult comes into the room; removing headwear (masculine) when indoors, offering the elderly and infirm your seat, using world maps with lots of pink and using the offensive term "blackboards".

English language - why bother with the niceties when it's a struggle to teach the basics in a class where numerous languages are the first language

English literature - you're having a laugh (see above)

"Mathematics" - used to be called arithmetic and statistics

Mathematics - algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus (would I be cynical to imagine that pupils (oops, students, sorry) can't even spell the words?)

Foreign Languages - now known as English

Cookery - how to cope with instructions on a fajitas ready meal kit

Citizenship - the individual's obligations in a multicultural state and to the people of the Global Village; the individual's duty to The State

Religious Education - Christianity is a bad thing because it is non-scientific and Christians believe in silly things such as the Immaculate Conception and an invisible being creating the universe when science and evolutionary theory states otherwise; Islam is a good thing because we must respect others' belief systems

Then again, Tonk summed it up nicely and more succinctly.

Brainwashing with all manner of elf'n'Safety and political correctness nonsense, Ken! Not a proper education like we had, that's for sure. Anonymous has hit the nail on the head with an accurate description of Nanny's "syllabus".

Tonk said: "Sadly, Nanny is more concerned about teaching children to be Good Dogs and to come when she whistles."

Quite agree, Tonk, far more important than wasting time on the 3Rs, History, Geopgraphy, Science, R.E etc. Heaven forbid! Teach them things like that, and they might start thinking and acting for themselves, and that would never do!

Tonk also said: "My own grandchildren seem to be very well informed about the state's new false religion of climate change and how bad (sic) our nation has been in the past but, they know little about our history, mathematics nor how to speak and write English.

Either that, or, as I am educated to degree level, teach them myself at home. Either way is far, far better than allowing them to be brainwashed by Nanny!
