For reasons best know to herself the ironically named Amanda Blanc (CEO of Aviva) insists that she signs off on all new white male recruits (lest they actually get hired).
She seems to think that this is something to be proud of, even though this policy is both racist and sexist.
In reality companies that go down the woke route end up reversing the policies as they inevitably lead to higher costs and lost revenues.
Children at a primary school have been taught to reject the use of “sexist” language by teachers. Phrases banned include “man up”, “grow a pair” and even “boys and girls”.
The #COVID19 pandemic is demonstrating what we all know: millennia of patriarchy have resulted in a male-dominated world with a male-dominated culture which damages everyone – women, men, girls & boys.
It is a tad puzzling that the UN in their tweet chose to use that particular extract of the UN Secretary General's speech to young women at a town hall meeting, given that a lot of what he said was in fact perfectly reasonable.
Therefore why use the part that makes him sound unhinged?
The Mirror reports that Melanie Morgan is accusing petrol stations of sexism because their huge 'male-designed'
pump handles hurt her 'small hands' - forcing her to get her partner to
fill up their van.
Seemingly she struggled to grasp a
petrol pump to 'prove' to partner Jared Griffiths that filling up their
Ford Tourneo Independence was a strain on her small hands.
She accused garages of 'everyday sexism' on
social media when her struggles filling up the van at pumps she believes
are designed with men in mind.
I am surprised that she hasn't also pointed out the very obvious sexism of the insertion of the pump into the car's petrol hole!

"Two television ads, one featuring new dads bungling comically while
looking after their babies and the other a woman sitting next to a pram,
have become the first to be banned under new rules designed to reduce
gender stereotyping.
The Advertising Standards Authority
banned the ads, for Volkswagen and Philadelphia cream cheese, following
complaints from the public that they perpetuated harmful stereotypes.
The new rules, introduced at the beginning of the year,
ban the depiction of men and women engaged in gender-stereotypical
activities to help stop “limiting how people see themselves and how
others see them and the life decisions they take”.
The ad for Volkswagen’s electric eGolf vehicle showed a series of
scenes including a man and a woman in a tent on a sheer cliff face, two
male astronauts, a male para-athlete and a woman sitting on a bench next
to a pram. Text stated: “When we learn to adapt we can achieve
anything.”
Complainants said the ad showed men engaged in adventurous
activities, that unlike her male counterpart, the female rock climber
was “passive” because she was asleep, and that the woman with the pram
was depicted in a stereotypical care-giving role.
Volkswagen said its ad was not sexist and that caring for a newborn was a
life-changing experience about adaptation, regardless of the gender of
the parent depicted."

"For the purpose of this guide, we’ll refer to the vagina as the ‘front hole’ instead of solely using the medical term ‘vagina.’This is gender-inclusive language."
Unsurprisingly Healthline have been ridiculed for this nonsense therefore, unsurprisingly, they have revised their article:
"For the purpose of this guide, we’ve chosen to include alternative words
for readers to use for their genitals. For example, some trans men
choose to use the words ‘front hole’ or ‘internal genital’ instead of
‘vagina.’

Today it's revealed that the Equality and Human Rights Commission warned the Government that voter ID could disenfranchise voters, particularly ethnic minority communities, older people, transgender people, and disabled people. The Government is determined to undermine democracy. pic.twitter.com/PyDHStkOqs
As long as the rules are applied to everyone, irrespective of age, sex, colour etc etc, then there is no disenfranchisement.
Following Smith's "logic" shall I tell my bank that their requirement to check my id when I draw a large sum of money, or when an airline checks my id before I board a plane is unfair?

How ironic that in the 100th year that women got the vote, women's freedom of choice about what they may, or may not, wish to do has been restricted.
So the inevitable has happened, F1 gridgirls have been banned. Ridiculous that women who say they are "fighting for women's rights" are saying what others should and shouldn't do, stopping us from doing a job we love and are proud to do. PC gone mad 😡 #Gridgirls

As expected, the media hysteria over the alleged behaviour of certain celebrities and politicians has had a knock on effect in the real world.
Sarah Hall, from Northumberland Park, has decided that the fairytale Sleeping Beauty promotes unacceptable behaviour which shouldn’t be read to young children.
She is of the view that it teaches children that it is ok to kiss a woman while she’s asleep, which she says is not acceptable.
ChronicleLive reports that she left a comment in her
son’s record book, and contacted his school to ask if books featuring it
could be taken out of circulation for younger classes.
She said:
“In today’s society, it isn’t appropriate - my son is only six, he
absorbs everything he sees, and it isn’t as if I can turn it into a
constructive conversation.
“I don’t think taking Sleeping Beauty books out of
circulation completely would be right. I actually think it would be a
great resource for older children, you could have a conversation around
it, you could talk about consent, and how the Princess might feel.
But
I’m really concerned about it for younger children, would really
welcome a conversation about whether this is suitable material."
She said:
“I think it’s a specific issue in the Sleeping Beauty story about sexual behaviour and consent.
It’s about saying is this still relevant, is it appropriate?”
All very well except, as with everything in life, deeds and words must be taken and judged in context. The kiss is in no manner or means portrayed in the fairytale as being sexual; ie it is clearly not an assault.
Kate Edwards, chief executive of Seven Stories, the
national centre for children's books , argued stories like Sleeping
Beauty have an important cultural and traditional role to play, and
shouldn't be lost - but they can be 'played with'.
"The fairytale tradition is rooted in moral instruction, telling children what's right and wrong.
Of
course, the cultural context and moral have changed hugely, so it's
important that children are given cultural context - but you can do that
without losing these stories.
We would always want to explore that story and its cultural relevance and rights and wrongs, as well as playing with it a bit.
Children have a strong sense of right and wrong, and talking about stories is a good way to access that.
We
would also point to a lot of retellings of Sleeping Beauty, like The
Worst Princess, which keep elements of the story but with a very
empowered princess."
What about stories such as Little Red Riding Hood?
Surely being chased by a ravenous wolf is far more threatening?
More to the point, surely the attempted poisoning of Sleeping Beauty by the evil queen is not acceptable either?

Oh dear Nanny really has a had a major sense of humour failure wrt funds raised for Shropshire Community Health NHS
Trust.
It seems that because the funds were raised by men dressed as nurses, the hospital
has turned down a donation.
For why?
Nanny believes that their behaviour was "highly-sexualised"
and "demeaning".
The Telegraph reports that the men raised £2,500 in the event in Ludlow, Shropshire,
which sees them dress up as female nurses and take to the streets with
collection buckets.
The fundraising drive for Shropshire Community Health NHS
Trust has been taking place without complaint for 30 years, raising
around £90,000 in total.
However, Jan Ditheridge, chief executive of the trust, said she is
not comfortable with how the event portrays medical staff and refused
the donation.
In
a letter to the Ludlow Hospital League of Friends, Ms Ditheridge and
chair of the trust Mike Ridley, said:
"The presentation of men dressed
as female nurse sin a highly-sexualised and demeaning way is wrong, very
outdated and insulting to the profession."
Peter Corfield, chairman of the League of Friends of Ludlow
Hospital, described the refusal of the cash as "absolutely
ridiculous."
He
added:
"The event has always run with the full knowledge and support of
the hospital and primary care trust management with participation by
NHS staff.
The whole thing is a light-hearted fundraiser which has
raised between £2,500 and £6,500 each year and so over that period of
time it's a very tidy sum."
Ms Ditheridge, chief executive of the trust said:
"It isn't okay to portray healthcare professionals in this way.
We have previously asked that this doesn't happen and
therefore don't think it's right to accept any money associated with
this activity.
I'm sure the event was organised with the best intentions
and we are sorry if it's made people feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.
Many people kindly and selflessly raise money for our
organisation, and especially for our hospitals. We are eternally
grateful for that."
