Those of you who doubt that Britain is becoming a police state, should read the article in this week's Spectator entitled New Labour's Police State.
It scared the hell out of me.
Unless the British people wake up, and throw Nanny and her apparatchiks out, the forthcoming general election in 2005 will probably be the last free elections in this country.
Mike,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post.
We have, at a guess, around 5-6 months until the next general election.
In that time I hope that the issues raised on this site become noticed by the main "opposition" party, and that they make the abolishment of Nanny's powers a key part of their manifesto.
As a politcal party to oppose, by monaing about Nanny, is not enough; they will have to come up with concrete measures that:
1 Abolish Nanny's powers and
2 Address the domestic issues that have given Nanny the excuse to push these powers through parliament.
Now if the main "opposition" party cannot do this, then people will have to vote for whichever candidate stands the best chance of removing Nanny's lackey from their seat; ie a tactical vote.
It would be of help, if people who read this site could let their friends, colleagues, the media and the political parties know about it.
That way the points raised will get on the agenda, and hopefully be noticed.
Six months or less, not much time.
Best regards
Ken
