I would suggest that with the limited vocabulary some youngsters have these days, the new dictionary, if it only includes words they actually use, could be put onto the back of a postage stamp…..Mind you, I suppose as Nanny believes spelling is unimportant, then perhaps there is no need at all for a young persons dictionary.

I do hope that none of the words listed above appear on any message from Westminster Nanny, Local Nanny or Euro Nanny, as the citizens of Nanny’s PC Socialist Utopia, won’t be able to look up their meaning….Perhaps, that is her cunning plan; An uneducated ignorant population is far easier to control, compared to a well educated confident one, as they are unable to think for themselves.

It seems really strange that Nanny wants kids in school from about three years of age until they are eighteen and yet, with the dumbing down of the curriculum and the latest proposals to dilute it even further, one would think the kids could be programmed by Nanny in just a few years.

Many of the words deleted are specific to British culture and Christianity. Of course those 2 things have been on the choping block for a while.

The purpose of language is communication. So which are they after abolishing, language or communicatio? Ooops sorry, both of these words are now over the disapproval event horizon and accelerating towards oblivion.

mmm interesting point. The working class was kept uneducated until the first education act in 18something or other (1870?). Why did the government of the time (House of Commons being landed gentry) think about educating the masses? Was it care and humanity? nah, there were revolutions happening in the European continent, so it was simply an effort to keep the peasant class sweet.
Of course, looking at some of the major nanny legislation in recent years, and the way that the British public just take it lying down, maybe you are right. The present government, who are once again landed gentry, whatever their political hew, can once again manipulate their subjects.
