Eggcellent!

I am gemused to read on Inspector Gadget's site that his branch of the police have recently banned the use of the phrase:

"Sure as eggs is eggs."

For why?

Seemingly Nanny fears that the phrase may upset women (especially those who may suffer from fertility problems).

  1. Perhaps we should all stop communicating all together because, after all, some one could be offended. I suspect that, if you looked hard enough, someone could turn anything around just so they could be offended. It seems to me that, this is all part of the agenda to make people fearful and less confident so they can be controlled easier.
This is crazy and another symptom of the PC, left dominated public services.

I presume that supermarkets and other food shops will have to remove cartons of eggs from the shelves to likewise avoid upsetting the infertile?

Our descent into the pit of madness accelerates daily.

If the police devoted as much time to catching criminals, which I was under the impression was their prime function, and which they were paid to do, instead of involving themselves in this pc crap, the coutry would be a far better and safer place. Instead of worrying about such phrases which some moron has deemed to be offensive, they should concentrate on the real issues facing people in their areas.

I think there's a strong suspicion that someone's just made this up, as no-one seems to be able to work out which force it is.

Not that there isn't plenty of other nonsense around, of sourse.

And, except in The Archers, I thought people stopped saying "as sure as eggs is eggs" in about 1920.
