The Preset Agenda of Myth Busters

Yesterday I wrote about the Myth Busters:
"a panel set up by Employment Minister Chris Grayling, to fight Nanny and her evil plans. The 13-strong committee includes an ex-police officer, a magistrate and an insurance boss and is led by Health and Safety Executive chair Judith Hackitt."
I noted that it was "odd that they have never made contact with this site wrt Nanny issues", and decided to drop them (via their contact form) a wee note reminding them of this site's existence:
"Are you aware of www.nannyknowsbest.com established in 2004, dedicated to exposing, and resisting, the all pervasive nanny state that is corroding the way of life and the freedom of the people of Britain?"
Here is their reply:
"Dear Ken

Thank-you for your email to the Myth Busters Challenge Panel.

Unfortunately your issue does not meet the Terms of Reference of the panel and therefore we are unable to look into it.

Many thanks.

Sue Bartley
Myth Busters Challenge Panel

A remarkably unimpressive reply, it indicates that they didn't read what I wrote and that the panel intends to work to its own preset agenda and is not receptive to input or suggestions from the real world.

Feel free to drop them a note via their email address or drop Chris Grayling a note via his email address chris.grayling.mp@parliament.uk.

The Dangers of Blu-tack

Mt thanks to a loyal reader, who alerted me to a particularly daft piece of Nannyism concerning blu-tack.

It seems that staff at one of the Perth and Kinross Council-run school campuses were told to stop using blu-tack on windows.

For why?

In the panic ridden world that Nanny has created, the staff were of the view that if blu-tack were to come into contact with some other chemical in the window, the window would shatter.

Step forward the Health and Safety Executive's Myth Busters Challenge Panel, which told the staff that this panic was based on utter bollocks. The Myth Busters instructed the school to reverse the edict, and replace the blu-tack.

The reason that this story has come to prominence, is that the Myth Busters are happily telling the world and his wife about their success in overturning one of Nanny's daft edicts.

Good for them!

So who exactly are the Myth Busters?

It seems that they are a panel set up by Employment Minister Chris Grayling, to fight Nanny and her evil plans. The 13-strong committee includes an ex-police officer, a magistrate and an insurance boss and is led by Health and Safety Executive chair Judith Hackitt.

Here is a link to their website: Myth Busters.

Nanny's Top Ten

WTF

Chris Grayling, the employment minister, has published the 10 "most bizarre" health and safety bans which have come to light since he took office just over a year ago:

1. Murray Mount closed at Wimbledon because of rain
2. Butlins ban on dodgem cars from bumping into each other
3. A ban on Royal wedding street parties
4. The removal of a bulky TV from a pensioner's home
5. Carnivals with fancy dress parades
6. Kite flying on a popular tourist beach in east Yorkshire
7. Stopping pupils from going on playground monkey bars
8. Using pins to secure commemorative poppies
9. School football games without a sponge ball
10. Children banned from the sack race on sports day

Good for the H&SE and for Grayling for publishing these!

Health and Safety

Rules
Occasionally in the morass of rules and regulations that Nanny spews forth, there is a ray of sunshine in the form of commonsense being applied. Such was the case recently when Chris Grayling, the Employment Minister, told voluntary organisations that they are not required to obtain independent audits and should not be 'bogged down' in red tape.

Charity shops run by volunteers were facing the threat of closure, because they could not afford the costs of complying with additional regulations wrt health and safety.

The shops were fearful that they would have to hire "health and safety consultants" to perform risk assessments etc. Mr Grayling referred to these "consultants" in a refreshingly direct manner, as "cowboys".

As said, this is a rare ray of sunshine. I was, until now, wondering if commonsense had been banned completely.

Nanny Bans Lap Dancing

Nanny Bans Lap Dancing
I see that Nanny's chum Chris Grayling, the employment minister, has decreed that job centres will no longer be able to display adverts for strippers, topless barmaids and lap-dancers.

All very well, but what gives Nanny to "moral" right to decree what jobs she defines to be "acceptable" or not?

A few factoids for Nanny:

1 Strippers et al are human beings too.

2 We are being told by Nanny that she wants less people claiming benefits, isn't the role of the job centre (aside from humiliating those who pass through its doors) to publicise all jobs that are available (irrespective of the personal prejudices/"morality" of Nanny and those who work in the job centres)?

3 Given Nanny's distaste for lap dancers etc, why is it that she is still happy to tax their earnings? Is that not somewhat hypocritical?

4 I take it then that not one single MP has ever visited a lap dancing club, watched a stripper or visited a brothel then? (Yes, I am being "ironic"!)

This is a small minded ban, that is totally pathetic.

Scum!

Let no one be in any doubt, our country is run by vermin.

How ironic that Nanny's "strategy master" has been caught out by the fact that someone was monitoring what he was up to, and reading his emails.

Now ZaNuLabour know what the rest of us feel like!

Happy Easter!

Source The Times.

"DOWNING STREET e-mails setting out plans for a vicious smear campaign against the Tories, which last night forced the resignation of one of the prime minister’s most senior aides, are revealed today.

The e-mails, seen by The Sunday Times, expose how Gordon Brown’s head of strategy and planning wrote to a Labour spin doctor proposing a campaign of unfounded personal slurs against senior Tories. The smears, many of a sexual nature, were planned as part of a strategy to “destabilise” the opposition in the run-up to the general election.

The operation was designed to target David Cameron, the Conservative leader, George Osborne, the shadow chancellor, and three other Tory MPs. The messages from Damian McBride, a long-standing Labour aide, were sent from an official No 10 e-mail address. The unfounded smears suggested: “Putting the fear of God” into Osborne by spreading rumours that he took drugs and had sex with a prostitute. Spreading rumours about the mental health of Osborne’s wife. Challenging Cameron to reveal details of an “embarrassing illness”. Accusing a gay Tory MP of promoting his partner’s business interests in the Commons.

McBride’s e-mails were sent to Derek Draper, a former aide to Lord Mandelson and prominent Labour blogger. In an indication of how serious the plan was, McBride wrote about how to “sequence” the stories for maximum impact. The messages discuss “timing and technology” for placing the rumours on the web and contain suggested links to websites and photographs that could make the allegations appear more credible.

The contents of the e-mails, which fell into the hands of Paul Staines, a political blogger, shatter Labour claims yesterday that McBride and Draper were “knocking around ideas” that were merely “juvenile and inappropriate”. At least one of the e-mails was copied to other Labour activists, including Charlie Whelan, who used to work as Brown’s spin doctor.

McBride, who was paid a six-figure salary by the taxpayer, resigned from his post last night as the attempted smear campaign was condemned by politicians from all sides. Labour MPs accused him of disgracing the party. Charles Clarke, the former home secretary, said: “Damian McBride has no place in 10 Downing Street. His actions bring shame to the Labour party.”

The e-mails were sent on January 13. The proposed slurs about Cameron, Osborne, Osborne’s wife Frances and three other Tory MPs, were designed to appear on a website called Red Rag, which McBride suggested should be advertised on LabourList, a website officially backed by the party.

Chris Grayling, the shadow home secretary, said the proposed smear campaign “beggared belief” and demanded an urgent explanation from the prime minister.

Tom Watson, a junior Cabinet Office minister who is referred to in passing in a separate e-mail from McBride to Draper about LabourList, has denied any involvement in the smear campaign.

A Downing Street spokesman said: “The prime minister has accepted Mr McBride’s resignation
