The Great Firewall of China

Folks I wonder if anyone can help me with this request that I received today?

Message text

Hi Ken,

I have a problem accessing 'nanny knows best' in mainland China, normally I would have to use a 'Proxy Hub' such as 'Letmeby.com' to bypass the Chinese firewall (direct access to the web site is not possible) but this and many others are being tinkered with.

The result is I can't open your web page anymore.

Any one with any ideas please?

Many thanks.

End of message

Nanny is not the only site of mine that the Chinese are blocking, any ideas most definitely would be very welcome.

Thanks

Ken

Talk to Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs.

He links to your website and he is one very smart man.

How long before the government trys to do the same here, in the interests of 'security' or 'fighting crime and/or terrorism, of course?

Lord of Atlantis: Pedophilia or Piracy are more likely to be the excuse for censorship of the web in the UK. In fact there is already a little known web site access watchlist in the UK already.

    flip,

I thought Google was the global Nanny partner for individual tracking and propaganda dissemination.

Are you indicating the Nanny UK maybe spending much easily extracted tax to pay some useless international monolithic Inc. to (badly) do the same thing?

Look up cleanfeed. Only child pornography at the moment, but who knows what in future.

There is currently a case going through the Italian courts regarding censorship and licensing of blog sites and discussion boards, as the Italian government believe these encourage terrorism and anti government feelings.
The word in government and journalistic circles is that most EUSSR governments are watching with interest the outcome of this case, with a view to introducing similar restrictions and censorship in their countries....I doubt Nanny will be able to resist such a move as she will be able to silence all her critics.

You can try http://www.proxychina.org to access blocked sites. It is a non profit organization supporting freedom of surf. Their servers are very fast and optimized for Chinese connections.
