Labour's Pink Bus

I see that Labour intend to try to reach out to women by touring the country in a pink bus.

Errmm, I thought that Nanny hated gender stereotyping and that pink is not meant to be a colour associated with females anymore?

Fat Matters

I was ungemused, but not at all surprised, to see that Nanny's chums from Labour recently called for legal limits to be placed on the fat, sugar and salt content of foods.

Shadow health secretary Andy Burnham said that current voluntary agreements with the food industry were not working, and the obesity problem was worsening.

Quite how Nanny can impose "legal limits" on the fat, sugar and salt contents of foods is beyond me; eg cheese and butter are, by definition, fat! Is Nanny intending to ban cheese and butter, or ration our consumption of them (as per the Second World War)?

The issue of obesity is not as simplistic as fat, salt, sugar but it relates to the fact that humans are designed to store fat during relatively rare times of "plenty" in order to survive the frequent times of scarcity. The "problem" (one would actually call it a "success") that the Western world faces is that we no longer live (in the First World) in a situation of food scarcity.

However, that is likely to soon end as the prices of food staples is set to rocket in the coming months/years; thus bringing us back to a period of food scarcity.

Nanny's chums in Parliament may care to also reflect on their own taxpayer subsidised intake of "unhealthy" substances (and their waistlines) before lecturing the rest of us on what we can/cannot eat!

What Nanny Gives With One Hand, She Takes With The Other

I see that Nanny's much derided policy of "everyone's a winner" is still be applied in our educashunal establishments with gusto.

The Telegraph reports that last year almost 90% of teenagers sat exams in subjects as "challenging" and as "useful" as call centre skills, cake decorating, health and safety and hazard control instead of the more "conventional" GCSEs.
Chris Skidmore, the Conservative MP for Kingswood, said:
These figures lay bare how Labour lied to a generation, falsely giving them the impression that qualifications that employers will all too often regard as irrelevant were ‘equivalent’ to GCSEs in rigorous subjects like maths and science.

Hundreds of thousands of young people are now paying the price for their deception.

In tough economic times, we must make every effort to ensure that our children are learning the subjects that employers and universities value most so they can compete for jobs once they leave education.”
Whilst it is all very well and, to some extent, true to lay the blame for this at the door of the previous Labour administration, the Coalition has been in orifice for a number of years now. Why only now is this issue causing the government some angst?

Anyhoo, rather late in the day Nanny has now outlined plans to axe more than 3,000 equivalent courses from her league tables by 2014.

In the event that Nanny actually carries out her plans, this will be rather demoralising for the 552,575 pupils (88% of the total) who were entered last summer for at least one of the equivalent qualifications set to be axed by Nanny.

What Nanny gives with one hand, she takes with the other!

Big Brother - Here Comes The Wind!

In May 2008 I wrote:
"I see that Nanny's much "respected" and "efficient" Home Orifice is considering plans to build a humongous database to store the details of every phone call made, every email sent and every web page visited by British citizens in the previous year.

Oh yes, this will work!

Nanny says that this will help her in her fight against terrorism and crime. Well, she always says that.

From what I recall the invasion of Iraq was meant to make the world a safer place from terrorism too, but that plan was a complete load of old bollocks as well.

The Home Orifice has already approached telecoms firms and internet service providers (ISPs), they would be the ones providing Nanny with their customer records if the plans go ahead.
"
At the time we were ruled by Labour Nanny, and both the Tories and Liberals opposed the plans for email and call monitoring.

Well here we are in 2012, under a Tory/Liberal coalition government and guess what?

Yes, they now want to do the very same thing!

Terrorism is used as Nanny's catch all excuse to cover all of her rapidly expanding surveillance requirements. In truth, our lives are not being blighted on a daily basis by terrorism but by "low level" crime (yobbery, thuggery, robbery, scummy behaviour etc). These are the issues that need to be addressed.

In this volte face, we see politicians revealing their true nature; dishonest, power hungry snoopers.

There are some Tories, such as David Davis, who oppose this nonsense:
“What this does is make (existing problems) 60 million times worse. The simple truth is that this is not necessary. What’s proposed here is completely unfettered access to every single communication you make.

It’s a very, very big widening of powers which will be very much resented by many citizens who do not like the idea. It’s going to cause enormous resentment."
However, even if we manage to stop this, I am afraid far worse is coming.

Ladies and Gentlemen I present project Stellar Wind (due to go live in 2013):
"Its purpose: to intercept, decipher, analyze, and store vast swaths of the world’s communications as they zap down from satellites and zip through the underground and undersea cables of international, foreign, and domestic networks. The heavily fortified $2 billion center should be up and running in September 2013.
Flowing through its servers and routers and stored in near-bottomless databases will be all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails—parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital “pocket litter.”....

Everybody’s a target; everybody with communication is a target.
Good luck everyone, we are entering an era where will be watched, monitored and manipulated by the state as never before!

New Laws For OId

Those of you who thought/hoped that the coalition was serious about rolling back the frontiers of the state, and reducing Nanny's control over the minutiae of our lives, will be sorely disappointed to learn that the coalition has actually introduced more laws than it has scrapped.

Our "brave new government" had come up with a "terrific wheeze" of trying to introduce a new law only if an old one was scrapped. Needless to say this plan has failed (the net imbalance of new for old stands at well over 100), as the civil service does its level best to block any attempts to reduce bureaucracy and looks for irrelevant inconsequential old laws to scrap whilst implementing very poorly drafted new laws.

Therefore not only are we seeing more laws created, but those that are created are in fact worse (in terms of quality and negative impact on our lives) than those created under ZaNuLabour.

Unimpressive to say the least!

Bin Brother - Slopping Out Banned

I am glad to see that our "beloved" new coalition government has "seen some commonsense", and at least attempted to trim the wings of Nanny's Bin Brother rules relating to slop buckets.

Coalition Nanny has decreed that households will no longer have to install slop buckets in every kitchen, something the ZaNuLabour had legislated to do.

Seemingly Nanny discovered, to her horror, that forcing people to use slop buckets (for the depositing of food waste) would in fact lead to an increase in fly tipping.

What?

People not blindly obeying Nanny's rules without question, surely not??!!

Nanny had planned to ban certain materials going to landfill, eg; food, paper and metals, in order to obey EU targets (another "beloved" institution!).

However, Nanny spent a year consulting" about the effect of such legislation (that's the spirit Nanny, check something out after you say you will do it) and found that people would simply stick two fingers up to her if she tried to impose this idea.

By the way, slop buckets would of course have caused an increase in the amount of vermin.

Frankly all these "separate your waste" diktats are bollocks anyway. As we all know councils pay companies to take the "separated" waste, who then ship it off to India to be buried in one massive landfill.

Let's save all of the bother and cost of this nonsense, and return to the good old days of crapping out of the window!

Nanny Shuts Down Database

How nice to read some, seemingly, positive news for once.

New Nanny (in the shape of the coalition) has decided to shut down Old Nanny's (ZaNuLabour) £224M child database.

This database holds the records of all 11 million children in England, and was launched last year. It holds the names, ages and addresses of all under-18s on a central computerised database, along with the contact details of their parents, schools and GPs.

Aside from the fact it was years behind schedule, over budget, had security flaws and didn't work well, it also gave access to the details of children to hundreds of thousands of teachers, police officers and social workers.

In other words it granted hundreds of thousands of unelected, unknown individuals the right to spy on a very large percentage of the population.

The database is being destroyed "using government-approved security standards and processes".

By they way, the best way to actually destroy a hard disc (in order to ensure that it is never read) is to take a hammer to it!

Let us trust that a new version is not created at some stage in the future.

Beware The Ghost of Henry VIII

Kudos to Lord Judge (yes, that really is his name!), the Lord Chief Justice, who has issued a very prescient warning during his annual address to the judiciary at Mansion House on Tuesday about the "Henry VII" clauses tagged into our legal framework by the previous government.

Off topic: Having scan read some of Lord Mandy's "kiss and tell" extracts of life in government it seems that we were "governed" (if that is really the word for it) during the years of ZaNuLabour by a bunch of unstable, paranoid, bullying hysterics. Quite how they found the time, in between their personal vendettas, to make the mess of this country that they did is beyond me.

Anyhoo, Lord Judge is scathing over the widespread use of Henry VIII clauses. This is where provisions are added in to legislation that enables a Government to repeal or amend laws after they have been passed.

He said he was "astonished" to find there were 120 such clauses in one parliamentary session alone. He noted that the proposals by the coalition for the "Great Repeal Act" provided an excellent opportunity to do away with these clauses.

By the way folks did I not propose on this site, way before the election, that a Repeal Party be formed in order to rid ourselves of all the crap that ZaNuLabour had created?

Could it be that someone in our new government is actually reading this site?

Lord Judge also went on to condemn councils for their overzealous use of surveillance laws, and their ability to enter people's homes without a warrant.

Good for Lord Judge!

Roll Back The Frontiers of The State

In December 2009 I wrote a number of articles about repealing the humongous number of laws made by Nanny.

Here is an extract from one of them:

"Factoid

Did you know that since coming to orifice in 1997 ZaNuLabour have, via its obsession with legislation, created new crimes at a rate of nearly one a day?

Hardly surprising that the police tend to appear heavy and handed and clueless, they simply can't keep up with the legislation and don't know how to interpret it.

Where were the Tories and "Liberal Democrats" during this period?

We have been let down big time by the "opposition".

Why have ZaNuLabour been allowed to get away with this?

You do realise folks that, as entertaining and cathartic as it may be to sit around saying 'isn't this awful?', unless we actually do something to reverse this trend we are up shit's creek without a paddle?

'What can we do?' I hear you cry...

1 Make a list of the laws that you want repealed....
"

In a later article, in December, I wrote this:

"I sent the following to David Cameron (copied to the Independent).

Politicians Have Failed The British People

'David

FYI.

Whilst my views, on their own, may not count for much; the fact that others agree with me (see the comments) ought to spur you to action, I hope, lest the "Repeal Party" actually takes physical form.

'

Now, guess what?

Nick Clegg, known in Tory circles as "Number Two", is to call on the public to nominate laws that they think should be repealed.

Errmmm...could it be that someone somewhere may actually have woken up to the fact that we are fed up with the minutiae of our lives being controlled by the state?

As I asked for then, I ask again, please send in a list of the laws that you want repealed:

1 Stating, in a coherent well reasoned manner, why they should be repealed.

2 The exact legislation you are referring to, ie name and date of passing by parliament.

I am happy to collate a well documented list, coupled with a well reasoned case, and send to Clegg.

Advice To David Cameron

Sent to David Cameron this morning:

"David

For what it is worth, here is my view on the possibility of a Lib-Lab coalition.

Let them have their "coalition of losers".

Within six months, if that, it will fall apart as a result of unreasonable demands made by minority regional parties and the "swivel eyed" members of the Liberal party.

The public will see through this quickly enough as being nothing more than a mechanism to keep Brown in office as PM.

Once it has fallen apart, and an election held, the Tory party will gain the majority it needs to govern without having to go cap in hand to Clegg.

Kind regards

Ken Frost

Well Hung!

Well HungWell my loyal readers, it seems that we are facing a hung parliament.

Gordon Brown, despite being clearly the loser, will desperately cling on to power in Downing Street. Meanwhile the economy will collapse, and we face turning into a cold/damp climate version of Greece (see my views on what we should do with Greece on www.loanbuster.net).

Despite all the hooplah over "boy Clegg", the Liberal Democrats have managed to perform less well than they did in the last election. However, they appear to be under the illusion that they have the right to act as "king makers".

On the ground we saw clear evidence that 13 years of ZaNuLabour have turned us into a third world country, unable to even print enough ballot papers for people to vote with.

The final piece of icing on the cake is that whoever cobbles together some form of "government" will inevitably have to call another election before the end of the year.

Welcome to the third world!

I Predict a Riot

Riot
I have been gemused with how all of the main political parties would have us believe that a vote for "the other lot" would cause financial chaos.

Well, that has been rather blown apart by the unsurprising revelation that none of the main political parties are being entirely "honest" (politics and honesty do not go hand in hand) with the long suffering electorate.

It seems that were the political parties to actually implement their manifesto "promises", wrt cutting the deficit and not raising taxes, then we will see cuts in public expenditure the like of which have not been witnessed since the Second World War (if Tory) or the dark days of the Labour government of the 70's (if Liberal or Labour).

Were the parties inclined to minimise the cuts, if they want to get the economy back in good shape, then they will have to raise taxes to unprecedented levels.

I could of course point out that had Brown not frittered away the surplus revenues during times of plenty, on hiking public sector pay and on the fees of consultants, we might be in better shape now.

However, we are where we are and we cannot put the clock back.

Either way given that the tax payers are already massively overburdened, and that the country as a whole seems totally reliant on the state to wipe its collective bottom, the results of the cuts and tax rises will provoke civil unrest not seen since the 70's.

For what it is worth, I don't think we should get too stressed out by the debt levels. They are manageable.

What is actually required is a whole scale restructuring, and re design, of the public sector ie:

- public sector pensions
- pay
- what it is actually meant to do
- simplification of the tax system (see www.hmrcisshite.com for my views on what needs to be done)
- simplification of the benefits system
- a return to self responsibility and a recognition that actions have consequences

However, none of the political parties have the stones to do that.

I predict a riot whichever bunch of BS artists gets in!

Twatter Of The Year

Twatter
Congratulations to Stuart MacLennan, the erstwhile Labour candidate for Moray, who has been disbarred by Labour from standing as their candidate, owing to some tweets that he posted on Twitter.

He posted such gems as:

-Describing the elderly as "coffin dodgers"

-Describing John Bercow a "twat"

-Describing Nick Clegg a "bastard" and Dianne Abbot, a "fucking" idiot.

-"God this fair-trade, organic banana is shit. Can I have a slave grown, chemically enhanced, genetically modified one please?"

-"Made my connecting train. No first class it would appear. Sitting opposite the ugliest old boot I've ever seen too".

-In another tweet he indicated that he spent most of his time on the campaign trail drunk.

The official line from the Labour bunker is that these were rather old tweets, and that they were not aware of them at the time.

The reality is that some of the tweets were not that old, and that certain high ranking Labour people (eg Ed Balls, John Prescott and Andy Burnham) had signed up as "followers" of MacLennan.

I see that MacLennan is student of my old university Edinburgh.

Well I have to say he has been a Twatter, that's for sure. However, the Labour party have been larger Twatters for not seeing how this would end when they selected him for the seat and for then claiming that they didn't know anything about it.

Prats of The Week - Scottish Labour

Prats of The WeekTis a gloomy, wet Monday morning.

Another week is upon us, reappearing with the tedious inevitability of an unloved season.

Therefore my loyal readers it is time to award my prestigious, and internationally renowned, "Prats of The Week" Award.

This week it goes to Scottish Labour, who have gone to new extremes of Nannyism.

Isn't funny how Nanny's most extreme supporters all seem to reside in the Labour part of the Scottish Parliament?

Anyhoo, fresh from the recent furore over "Buckie", and the ongoing moaning and rumbles against booze, Scottish Labour have decided that caffeine mixed with booze (eg as you would find in a "Buckie") simply is the worst evil on the planet.

Their solution?

Surely you can guess?

Yes, that's right, they intend to ban (or at least restrict) caffeine in alcoholic drinks.

Strathclyde Police blame most of Scotland's drink related crime on "Buckie" (a bottle of which contains the caffeine equivalent of 8 cans of cola).

As noted before, it sound a most efficacious drink to me!

Scottish Labour health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie said:

"I believe the risks involved in consuming caffeinated alcohol are so great that the Scottish government must take action.

The research suggests you are more likely to end up in hospital or be assaulted if you drink these products
."

Bollocks!

I consume, on an occasional basis, several stiff Irish coffees after a good meal drinkies. The worst that happens to me is that I don't sleep and talk a lot (quality conversation I would add).

- I do not commit violent crime.

- I do not urinate/vomit in public.

- I do not assault people.

- I do not rob people.

- I do not abuse people.

- I do not put my feet up of bus/train seats.

- I do not pass out.

It's not the drink that turns these scrotes into feral behaving scrotes, they are already feral behaving scrotes (with or without the drink).

Factoid: Buckie accounts for 0.5% of all alcoholic drinks bought in Scotland.

The law, were it to be enacted, would be unworkable.

All you have to do is, eg mix alcohol with coffee (Irish coffees) or mix it with other caffeine based drinks such as Lucozade (vodka and Lucozade is rather "peppy" actually!...Benylin and vodka is also rather efficacious). Worst case scenario, just pop a couple of Pro Plus pills before going out on the piss.

A totally unworkable and unenforceable law.

Unless, that is, Nanny is going to start testing people for blood/caffeine levels!

Will the members of Scottish Labour be giving up their coffee and liqueurs after dinner?

No, I thought not!

Scottish Labour, well deserving Prats of The Week.

The Pope Touched My Thigh

Pope RatzingerI am "gemused" to see that the tireless campaigner for women's rights and equality for all, Harriet Harperson, has watered down her "Equality Bill" following divine intervention from Pope Ratzinger.

Seemingly Harperson and ZaNuLabour don't want to go to war with "holy mother church", most especially when the Pope is coming to Britain during an election year.

I realise that Blair believes that the Pope is inflammable etc but, given that he has gone and was responsible for a disastrous fanatical holy war in the Middle East, I would have thought that ZaNuLabour would have shaken free of the shackles of religious fundamentalism by now.

Evidently not!

The Scanners Are Coming

Body Scanner

I amused to see that our "beloved" PM Gordon "Smiler" Brown has authorised the installation of body scanners, at all of the UK's airports, in response to the threat posed by morons who try to detonate their underpants.

Here are a few observations about Brown's "great" plan:

1 Scanners have been considered in the past, and deemed not up to the job.

2 Scanners require a human to spot the "bomb", they are therefore not infallible.

3 Scanners will not pick up certain dangerous substances.

4 Brown has ordered a review of security, with special emphasis on scanners. Yet he has overridden the review, even before it has concluded/reported, and ordered scanners.

Why?

It's an election year, and he has to look "decisive".

5 Body scanners will most likely break Nanny's anti child porn laws.

6 Why waste resources treating all passengers as suspects, when experts in the field of terrorism have stated (time and time again) that the terrorists fit a reasonably "easy to identify" profile?

Nanny is just trying to look busy, to make us think that she is useful to us.

However, do not be too alarmed, as said this is a "directive from Brown himself:

1 Orders from Brown never actually come to fruition.

2 These days orders from the Number 10 bunker carry as much weight as Fuhrer orders did in April 1945.

3 Brown/Labour will cock this up, as they have done every other thing in the past 13 years.

Nanny's Nasty Little Habit

Nasty Habit
Factoid

Did you know that since coming to orifice in 1997 ZaNuLabour have, via its obsession with legislation, created new crimes at a rate of nearly one a day?

Hardly surprising that the police tend to appear heavy and handed and clueless, they simply can't keep up with the legislation and don't know how to interpret it.

Where were the Tories and "Liberal Democrats" during this period?

We have been let down big time by the "opposition".

Why have ZaNuLabour been allowed to get away with this?

You do realise folks that, as entertaining and cathartic as it may be to sit around saying "isn't this awful?", unless we actually do something to reverse this trend we are up shit's creek without a paddle?

"What can we do?" I hear you cry...

1 Make a list of the laws that you want repealed.

2 When a politician comes knocking on your door, sliming for you vote, tell him/her that if there is a written guarantee that these laws will be abolished, within 50 days of the new parliament, you will vote for them.

3 Refuse to provide the state with any information (no matter how trivial) that it requests from you, unless you are legally bound to do so.

4 Send the list to laws you want repealed to your local MP, and remind him/her that their job is on the line if they don't comply with your wishes.

5 Vote for any party that guarantees they will roll back the power (and by definition the cost base) of local councils.

The state should be afraid of the people, the people should not be afraid of the state!
