Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy
What a glorious day my loyal readers!

Sometimes, once in a while, there is news that allows us to have a little hope that Nanny and her acolytes may one day get what they truly deserve.

Such hope was kindled in my chest (can I say "chest" so early in the morning?) when I saw the news that Harriet Harperson is to be prosecuted for her alleged accident earlier this year, and for allegedly driving whilst using a mobile phone.

The icing on the cake is the fact that she denies the charges.

She is of course capable of "misspeaking".

Oh what utter joy there could be if, in the face of her denial, she were to be found guilty!

Maybe she would prefer her personally acclaimed, and publicly derided, "court of public opinion"?

Oh be still my racing heart!

By happy happenstance I am taking my dear old mum (who is still active and alert in her mid 80's) out for a slap up lunch today.

Suffice to say, in light this glorious news, there will be extra lashings of booze!

Extra brandies all round!

I would ask one minor question, why the hell has it taken almost 6 months to bring this to court?

Were Harperson an ordinary mortal, ie one of us, the case I am sure would have been brought to court by now.

Good news indeed, and long overdue.

Obviously her star must have fallen somewhat recently, leading to the inevitable prosecution that must follow. After all, the big wigs at the top must be seen to be keeping their hands clean...

It probably won't come to court. This bunch of devious, lying bastards will probably change the law to exempt government ministers from prosecution, in the same way they exempted MPs from phone taps under Wilson iirc.

  3. They will just find a way to dismiss the charges.. the police officer wont turn up or will lose the records.

Either that or they will site some stupid rule about "public interest" and she'll get a five minite driving ban.

As has been suggested, there is a very real possibility she will get off on a "technicality" or because the case is 'not in the public interest'. How can they make statements like that, when they never ask the public for their opinion? Personally, I hope they throw the book at her!

Let's face it, this couldn't happen to a nicer person, one who thoroughly deserves all she gets!

Don't be silly EU Serfs the law is not for the likes of me. I will simply have a little chat with the 'impartial and non political' policepersons and all will be resolved.

You will now stand for Ode to Joy.

I would keep the champagne on ice, if I were you Ken. Given recent experience it's doubtful if she will actually get convicted...

...and more good news: the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia has been hacked and files released which appear to show AGW for the scam that it is!

    To Jay @5:47
What convenient timing and choice of hacking for those who wish to promote climate change innocently or for control and tax puposes! How come other scientists' research wasn't hacked which has another or other views?
Also, who knows what other things are going on that we don't know about.
I feel for those, especially those who have lost a loved one or who have been badly affected.

The CRU "hack" has been confirmed as genuine, and there are now suggestions that it might actually be an inside job...

I've downloaded the entire thing, and it's definitely an eye opener!

I think she's going to have to take the bullet; a few more points on her license and a fine. At this stage I don't thing they're going to take a chance at the public (and electoral) anger of letting her off on a technicality.

She's going to smile sweetly (keep a sick-bag handy), say how sorry she is and carry on as if nothing's happened: "Look at me, done the crime, paid the fine, I'm a normal human being just like you," hoping we'll all just shrug our shoulders and 'move on'.

Surely after recent pronouncement the Minister for Inequality should be correctly renamed to Harriet Harwoman.

As for the apparent 6 months - this is normal.

For mere mortals who are unsure but fear they may have broken some technical law the 6 month period is the maximum allowed for the notice of prosecution to be served. so they keep people waiting until the last minute - because they can.

My preference would be for Mr. Loophole (Nick Freeman) to take the case for nothing and get her off. It might stop them harping on about others doing the same thing and think twice about the changes that make people guilty (in terms of what it costs them) even when a court finds no case to answer.

She's obviously not very good at driving, given she did not spot her '99'mph on the M4 a few years ago. Maybe she should consider handing in her licence.

Harridan Manhater was put on the spot over "phone driving" in this week's Radio 4 "Any Questions". To enjoy hearing her wriggle on the hook go here:

Harman has several previous driving convictions. She was banned from driving for seven days and fined £400 after admitting speeding at 99mph on the M4 near Swindon in January 2003.

The penalty, which was criticised by motorists' organisations as too lenient, was issued just as it was announced that court fines should be more closely linked to offenders' incomes.

She was also fined £60 and given three penalty points for exceeding a temporary speed limit in April 2007.

Aparently Pa Broon has rung her to express his support. I trust he will drop her like hot shit once she's found guilty?
