Big Brother - Welcome To Camden III
I am "gemused" to see that, despite some heavy backtracking by Camden council over its Robocop talking CCTV installed at Walker House (filmed above by Jim Jepps, a local resident), some Labour councillors revealed their true nature.
According to Spiked, Roger Robinson said:
"People have been known to smash cars and steal motorbikes.
We’re entitled to do something."
"Entitled" Mr Robinson?
No, you are not "entitled", you are in your position at the sufferance of the people. It is for them to define and limit your role in their lives!
Oh, and as I pointed out yesterday, there is no farking crime at Walker House!
The state, councils and police will only be happy when public places (including social networks) are shut down (wrt social networks read this article about the internet on my Olympics site).
Despite the fact that camera no longer speaks, as I noted yesterday, it still sees.
In fact we are watched by around 4.5million CCTV cameras in this country.

Big Brother - Welcome To Camden II
In an update to my earlier article about the talking CCTV, installed at Walker House by Camden council, Camden council now claim that the voice system was activated accidentally.
Anyone believe that?
They have now deactivated the voice!
Snort!

Big Brother - Welcome To Camden
My compliments to Camden Council for living "the dream", and turning Walker House (a housing estate) into a version of 1984.
The council, for reasons best known to themselves, have installed CCTV talking cameras in the communal grounds of Walker House.
What do these cameras do?
Well, if you happen to walk near them, they talk to you in an American accent and say:
Stop, this is a restricted area and your photograph is being taken. It will be sent for processing if you don't leave the area now."
The council claim that it is to stop anti social behaviour, drug dealing etc etc.
However, here are two modest factoids:
1 Not everyone who walks through the communal grounds is a criminal (these are communal grounds after all!).
2 The Home Office's crime-mapping site does not show any crimes at the estate in the last year.
These cameras are highly annoying, offensive, dangerous and bollocks!
Councils are the enemies of the people!
Enjoy the above footage taken by local resident Jim Jepps.

Physician Heal Thyself II
Scarcely a day goes by when a doctor isn't haranguing us in the media about our lives, and demanding that Nanny takes some action to curtail our personal freedoms.
Well, it seems that there has been a little bit of hypocrisy going on, the butcher's profession (which has more than its fair share of drunks and drug addicts) in fact has been asking for the licence on one of its own bars to be extended into the wee small hours.
The British Medical Association has applied for an extension to the drinks licence at its headquarters, BMA House Tavistock Square in Camden.
The BMA wants the bar to stay open until 1AM.
Now, the funny thing is, only last week the BMA was berating Nanny for failing to tackle binge drinking and the evils of extended opening hours.
From the horse doctor's mouth:
"There is strong evidence that increased opening hours are associated with increased alcohol consumption and alcohol-related problems."
The butcher's profession should remember that its role in life is to heal, not to act as social engineers.

Prats of The Week
This week's prestigious Prat of The Week Award goes to the good people of Camden Council, or rather their parking control department (or whatever they choose to call it).I am sure that the hapless driver of a Meyers of Stratford lorry will agree with this award, as he encountered a jobsworth prat from the council in Belsize Park the other week.
The driver was travelling along a road, weakened by water from a burst main below. Then the front wheel of his truck had got stuck, axle deep, in a hole after the road collapsed beneath the vehicle.
Needless to say, the responsibility for maintaining the roads lies with the council...so you might suggest that it was their fault.
Anyhoo, the driver the tried to shift his trapped truck. At this point a jobsworth traffic warden turned up. The good lady from the legion of wardens did what she does best, instead of helping, she provided the hapless driver with a ticket.
Rather like an old Laurel and Hardy film, a small crowd of astonished onlookers gathered to watch the "comedy" show. The driver tried in vain to explain his predicament. However, the jobsworth warden just shrugged and told him he could appeal against the fine.
Sue Melkman, a resident, said:
"It's crazy.
There was water everywhere.
It was obvious what had happened but she still wrote the ticket.
She wouldn't engage in conversation.
All she would say was, 'You can appeal'.
It's the daftest decision.
How can you give a ticket to someone who's stuck in a hole?
The woman must live in a parallel universe.
It's so ridiculous.
Everyone was laughing at her
and a few were taking pictures on their phones.
I told her she'd be a laughing stock
and it would be in the local paper but she didn't reply.
She just wrote the ticket and off she went.
The poor driver tried to reason with her,
but what can you do?
If they're going to write a ticket they just do it.
He took it very philosophically."
The incident was sparked by decision from the ever respected and useful Thames Water (who leak a gazillion gallons of water every day). Dear old Thames Water had decided not to put cones around the bulging, cracked patch of road after inspecting it the previous day.
By the way, the German owners of Thames Water have decided to sell it; any takers?
One resident of the street said:
"It was really the water board's fault.
A water main burst outside my house at about 7.30pm on Thursday evening,
and at about 10 o'clock Thames Water came along to see what was happening.
I saw them with some cones in their hands,
but then they put them back in their van.
The road was bulging and cracks were appearing.
There's a fire station nearby
and I was worried the road might collapse if a fire engine went over it
but the engineers said it was fine
and they would be back to fix it the next day.
Then at 7.30 next morning a lorry came to collect a skip from my neighbour
and he just sank down into the road to his axle.
They came to fix the water main in the middle of it all
but couldn't because the lorry was on top of it."
Sounds like Thames Water also deserve the Prat of The Week award.
Meyers of Stratford said:
"Camden Council said we can appeal
but what a waste of everyone's time.
Now we've got to write the letters and send off the forms.
It was absolutely obvious why the truck was there
but she still fined us.
It makes you sick."
Nanny makes us all sick.
Her rules, red tape and indifference are designed to beat us into submission.
Anyhoo, congratulations to Camden Council for winning this prestigious award.
Feel free to email them via this link Camden Council, to tell them that they have won.

At The Circus
Nanny has always had a penchant for seeking publicity, and has rather an affinity for showbusiness and the sort of people who inhabit that world. Therefore it should come as no surprise to learn that Nanny is now sticking her nose into the world of circuses.
Nanny's new public entertainment licensing laws came into effect in November, you know... the ones that gave us 24 drinking, and are threatening to have a negative impact on the world of sawdust and the big top.
John Roberts, co-owner of Robert Brothers Famous Circus, was forced to delay the opening of his traditional Christmas spectacular in Milton Keynes because one of the seven bundles of documents he had been asked to submit to the council to obtain a public entertainment licence failed to arrive in time.
This was despite beginning negotiations in September, and setting aside seven days for meetings with council officers.
Roberts is quoted as saying:
"It was incredibly time consuming.
In the end we got the licence but the thought of having to do that in every one of the 35 towns we will be visiting next year is very worrying."
Robert Brothers aren't the only show to be adversely affected by Nanny. The European Entertainment Corporation (EEC)...jokes about the EEC and clowns should be submitted in triplicate..., the largest circus operator in the UK, has decided not to put Cottle & Austin's Electric Circus on the road next year partly because of the expense of having to file separate licence applications with every local authority on a packed tour schedule.
Instead, the EEC will concentrate on moneyspinners like the Chinese and Moscow State Circus.
Nanny of course does not just interfere with circuses.
Punch and Judy artists now must take out £200 adverts before they pitch their booths on the beach, music venues must install expensive soundproofing and samba musicians have to apply for the correct £600 permit in order to perform at carnivals and street festivals
Mick Pycke, a member of the UK Samba Association and director of Bloco do Sul samba group based in Dorking, said:
"It's the low season for us now but come the spring and summer it's going to be chaos.
Most samba bands charge about £600 for a performance, which is the same as the cost of a licence".
David Locke, who owns La Brocca, a restaurant in West Hampstead, stopped advertising jazz last month because he has to apply for a formal public entertainment licence from the local authority, which would be too expensive.
Quote:
"Camden council told me my bar was unsuitable for live music and that if I wanted a licence I'd have to install soundproofing.
It just isn't viable. Jazz is a philanthropic thing - it doesn't make me money."
You see folks, these new laws all came in with the Licensing rules in November. The media and politicians only focused on the 24 hour drinking part.
In fact the regulations require every small-scale entertainer, from folk musicians to street artists to charity carollers, to obtain a public entertainment licence before putting on a paid-for performance.
The only exemptions are for morris dancing (quite!), travelling fairgrounds and garden fetes.
Needless to say, Nanny's chums in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport claim that the law would actually provide "increased opportunities for musicians and other entertainers".
Bollocks!
What Nanny can't control, she bans.
Nanny is in effect emulating the Puritans of the 17th century, who closed theatres and places of entertainment.
The British people had the good sense to get rid of them, I am more than sure that we will do the same now with the current bunch of "clowns" running the country.

Nanny Bans Christmas
Here is a seasonal line up of some of the Nanny nonsense that threatens to spoil Christmas:
- My own borough of Croydon have managed to snuff out any vestige of Christmas cheer in the borough this year, as they have banned Christmas decorations in the main shopping centre (see this site’s post "Croydon’s Crappy Christmas”). Those of you who wish to see how bad Croydon really is to live in, are cordially invited to visit www.croydoniscrap.com
- The Red Cross have banned Advent calendars, and Christmas decorations in their shops, as they deem that they may offend non Christians
- Luton Council have given their Christmas lights the sinister sounding “Orwellian” name of Luminos. In their sick and perverted view of the world, the word Christmas is offensive to minorities
- Nanny’s friends in Camden Council followed suit by renaming their lights, Festive Lights
- Bury St Edmunds banned lights this year in case one fell on someone’s head.
Jobsworth bosses at Jobcentres have banned Christmas decorations, they are a safety hazard! - Tower Hamlets Council have banned their staff using the word “Christmas”, when they attend their “Ch***tmas” lunch
- Nanny’s Fourth Reich Council of Birmingham have banned Santa, as Santa is very offensive to non Christians
- We do, do we not, live in a Christian country
- Our Prime Minister claims to be a practising Christian
- Christmas is a Christian festival
- We do not force non Christians to participate in Christian festivals
- We do not suppress other religions, unlike some countries
There will come a time, and seemingly that time is close at hand, when we the citizens of Britain will come to regard Britain as a foreign land; ie we will feel that we are strangers, and outsiders, in our own country!
