Thought For The Day

WTF!
A small "pop quiz" for all my loyal readers.

Question

Which country/region would you invade in order to promote democracy, and make the world a "safer" place?

1 A country that used to hold regular elections for its president, or

2 A region that appointed an unknown political lightweight to the newly created position of president, by way of a closed door political stitch up between heads of government, without consulting its people?

Answer

Isn't it obvious?

Country number 1!

Why?

The first country was Iraq, the second region is the EU.

  1. Ken,

Yes, I too think it is a little ironical that, as we strut around the world with our big brother America, imposing democracy on countries that don't want it, we are loosing our own democracy.

Trade with Europe yes, but never be ruled by Europe.

I am English first, British second, but I will never be European!!

Incidently, it appears the Europeans dislike us as much as we dislike them; They refer to the UK as monkey island because so many of our people are so badly behaved and out of control....They also say that we (The UK) don't want to be part of Europe, we just want their trade....Actually, they may have a point;-)

This post does not contain flash photography, nor mild peril, nor strong language, nor scenes of an adult or sensitive nature....Enjoy posting responsibly. etc etc.

  2. The obvious answer to your question, Ken, is the USA.

I'm still waiting for the day that some benevolent superpower will come and invade the UK and release us from the bondage we are seemingly caught in today.

I have no idea who that superpower might be, because it isn't the USA, that's for sure.

Peter Sinister Mandelson was on the radio again this morning. He seems to get involved in everything these days, as if he's running the place - which I suspect he is. And that's another 'democratic' stitch up.

Yes, isn't it ironic that we invaded Iraq to impose democracy, are doing the same in Afghanistan, presumably for the same reason, wghilst we have had democracy taken off us at home. Meanwhile, we have signed a one sided agreement with America, the land of the free (provided you have a big enough bank account) to extradite our citizens there, even though they rarely reciprocate. It is high time we stood up for ourselves against these bullies: fat chance with our spineless leaders!

  6. An American political and social analyst/blogger has characterized the governing American political mind-set as "Invade the World, invite the world, in hock to the world," referring to the nation's foreign, immigration, and economic policies respectively.

The thinking in the halls of power seems to be that if we accept enough immigrants from all over creation, then that justifies military meddling all over creation (since America can then claim to be a "global" society), which will be financed by borrowing from all over creation.

Not surprisingly, it doesn't seem to be working now any better than it did for the Romans.

    Ken

As you know, the British did not invade - the politicians did.

I'm hoping the British will be free again, but not free as in "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose" (I hope I didn't infringe copyright there -there are so many laws and so mcuh is changing so quickly, that it becomes hard to try to do be law-abiding and concentrate on any task at hand without being dstracted by such and similar burdens).

I guess we should enjoy living as best as we can (as well as any aspects which are like slavery as well as any mistreatment or infamy where Britain got a bad reputation due to decisions of some known and unknown people) responsibly...

The USA for all its flaws is a democracy (try to vote out the EU commission can't be done) and its people take their civil liberites very seriously indeed. We are ruled by a unlected group of swine typified by Madelson and Kinnock etc known as the EU. Oh, and our citizens don't give fark and would sooner debate the X Factor on Ice dancing than all that 'boring' politics.

Much as I enjoy Nany Knows Best, there is just a touch of difference between a president who has the power to rule autocratically and act above the law and one who has very limited authority.

No excuse for invasions and suchlike...

  10. Number Six;

Sadly, that is the natural consequenses when society is dumbed down....Education has been dumbed down and now, thanks to Ed-ucation Balls-up, it more more indoctrination rather than education....I was listening to some students talk last night and most could hardly string a sentence together, let alone conduct a debate.....The news has been dumbed down, both the papers and TV news...It is also very carefully managed by the editors.

This is why I suspect there will be no real resistance to our assimilation into the EUSSR and certaily, if there is none within the next decade or so, then there will never be any because by then, most of the population will be victims of the socialist, left wing, PC education system....Just listen to the views of those under about thirty on Question Time...It makes my heart weep.
